I have ha ASMR ever since I was about 8 or 9. I never knew the word for it until I was in my mid-teens when looking it up on the internet.
It’s not a sexual feeling by any means (in fact have a low interest in sex) but almost a powerful ‘drug’ vibration at the back of my head. I did get an MRI for an unrelated reason so I wonder if it would be able to detect structural brain differences.
I heard somewhere that it might have to do with endorphins but I’m not too sure.
It is against GQ rules to respond with a joke before the question has been answered factually.
It is against SDMB rules to insult other posters outside the Pit.
2a) It is still against SDMB rules to insult other posters even if it is intended as a joke, or is based on a quote from a book or movie.
As a joke, this is not only rather obscure to anyone who hasn’t read Lord of the Flies (or who read it 50 years ago, like I did), but it’s a pretty lame joke to begin with.
This is rather impressive list of offenses for a four-word post. The only reason I’m making this a note instead of a warning is because you didn’t directly insult the OP. But let’s refrain from such attempts at humor in the future.
:dubious: yourself. When was the last time Little Ed was a GQ moderator? We’re still minding the store.
Never heard of this condition before, but are you sure it’s a real thing? That trope of* something trickling down your spine *is really old, and I guess we all can more or less relate to it; whether or not that was our actual impression at the moment.
Oh yes, even the smallest of a sound can trigger it but it’s very random and not voluntary by any means. Sometimes I have trouble focusing because it feels like being tickle near my ribs/back of the spine.
