We had neighbours across the street from us who moved to Australia (from Canada.) About a year later we talked to them on the phone. The father sounded every bit as Canadian as the day they’d left; his wife and daughters sounded like they were trying to channel Crocodile Dundee. You would never know they had been born in the same country.
