After an optometrist appointment today, I got a slightly new presciption for my contact lenses. This made me start to wonder- what causes this to change? I’m only 20, so maybe stuff is still changing in my body a little bit, but is there anything someone might do that would affect their vision negatively or positively? (Like parents claiming that staring at a TV or computer screen will ruin your eyesight, etc).
Forcing your eyes to focus on near objects (like a computer screen) for an extended period of time will induce permanent curvature changes on the crystalline lens. It´s an adaptation of your eyes to your lifestyle.
There are of course other causes for that, but this one seems to fit your case better.
Ah Ha!
I knew I wasn’t hurting my eyesight! I’m only adapting to a lifestyle I’ll have for the rest of my life… Sitting in front of a computer… probably doing nothing productive… a pape…er… e-mail pusher.
Seriously thinking of becoming a hermit.
