What celebrities have committed Welsh acts?

Wasn’t David Bowie born in a town by the name of Way-too-many-ys-in-the-name-ington-upon-flem?

What other celebs have come from the land which, when bored, terrorizes the countryside with close harmony singing?

Catherine Zeta Jones is from Swansea, Wales as is Anthony Hopkins.

Some other Welsh performers? Well, Tom Jones, for one. It’s not unusual.

To be loved by any sheep.

Charlotte Church.

Cat Jones will be around later no doubt to tell us all about the famous people that her homeland has produced but until then some Welsh bands :
Manic Street Preachers

Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci

And I guess that Richard Burton is the most famous of all.

Tenuous but true …

Kylie Minogue’s is from Measteg on her mother’s side

and of course we all know that young Elvis’ family take their name from the Presili Hills in South West Wales, as with so many immigrants the spelling got a bit mangled is all.

With a name like David Jones he may well have some Welsh on him, but he was born in Brixton (South London).

But Ziggy Stardust looks Welsh though.

The ‘Bowie’ was adpoted to avoid confusion with Davy Jones of The Monkees :dubious:

You trying to tell me there’s hope for savage Irishmen Ponster ?

I know why I thought of David Bowie! It’s because I heard the Welsh band Stereophonics opened for him once, and I must have gotten the facts mixed up in my head.

Was just about to make that correction myself. He’s a Londoner through and through.

Although Christian Bale often plays Americans in films (including the title character in American Psycho), he is a Welshman – born in Haverfordwest.

As a matter of trivia, Bale’s dad David is now Mr. Gloria Steinem!

Just to keep up with the Joneses, there’s also Terry Jones (of Mony Python).
