After being cellphone-free for 3 years, I recently gave in to my wife’s pressure (I estimate it at 3.47 Megatons/sq inch) and am now forced to forsake the freedom I used to enjoy (Woe me!etc…)
We will be mostly calling each other so maybe some kind of couple/family plan would be most appropriate.
We will not use it much so we want the lowest monthly fee possible.
A short contract would be preferable and we coudn’t care less about color, camera or any of those bells and whistles that come with most cellphones nowadays.
I haven’t comparison-shopped recently, but in case you were thinking of going with Sprint, I’d like to counter-recommend Working Assets (www.workingassets.com). They basically have the same prices and options as Sprint (I believe they are basically reselling Sprint service), but they donate a portion of their revenues to progressive nonprofits. I’ve got both their cell service and long-distance on my home line; have for years, and have always been satisfied with their service and responsiveness.
Plus if you sign up for their home long-distance, I think you still get a coupon for a free pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream every month for 6 months. What could be better?
Hey Eva Luna, I’m surprised you still remember me (pleasantly that is ;p) . I’m afraid you don’t understand how things are with my wife. She notified me about 47 minutes ago that we both needed a cellphone NOW! I basically have until 12 or 12:30 EST to decide which provider/plan to go with then she will put me in her pocket and take me to a random store and make me sign something. Online orders are pretty much out of the question.
Maybe your wife can be dissuaded for a few days with the prospect of free ice cream. Seems kind of silly to procrastinate for that long, and then to consider it an emergency.
(BTW, I tend to remember people with immigration questions. Glad to see you’re still here, and in one piece.)
