[li]Culvers (WI/N IL)[/li][li]In-N-Out (SoCal, as mentioned in The Big Lebowski)[/li][li]Rockfish (Southwest fish place…good Copper River Wild Salmon and great clam chowder)[/li][li]Paradise Bakery & Grill (Phoenix area, including one in Sky Harbor International; great sandwiches, great tomato-basil soup…just great.)[/li][li]Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse (Two in New Orleans and one in most other major cities. Pricey but well worth it.)[/li][li]Houston’s (even though I used to work at one…a little overpriced but they serve a good steak.)[/li][li]Legal Seafoods. Bostonians will know what I mean. What am I missing?
On the central coast of California, Baja Fresh is (or was) pretty damned good. They specialize in low-fat, fresh, grilled Mexican food. And their salsa bar is hard to beat.
Whatever seasonings they use on their steak is incredible and their cinnimon butter is fantastic. I usually skip the bread at most restaurants, but not there.
If only they’d stop playing that damn country music. Oh well.
Mmmmmmm…Bojangles. Most of their food is strangely bad (white gravy on mashed potatoes?) but their biscuits are yummy! I like Bojangles just because their sweet tea is so good (very strong, sweet, and with real lemons!), but the clincher is the cajun seasoning on the fries. I can go to places that have much better biscuits, but I’d still rather go to Bojangles.
Panera Bread – incredible sandwiches Red, Hot, and Blue – small chain of BBQ pork and beef. Great stuff; whenever we’re in the DC area, we’re there. Original Pancake House – best breakfast anywhere. Try the Dutch Baby.
