I donated a fair bit to the Chinese Alligator Fund, to help prevent the extinction of Alligator sinensis. That was back when I could afford to drop large amounts on charity. I feel pretty good about it, my donation actually made a real difference.

I donated $200 to the democratic campaign. I feel less good about that donation, and can certainly afford it less.

And it violated my rule of not giving money to organizations for humans.
