What Chemical do the Proffessionals Use to Kill and Retard Mold Growth in a home?

I have heard this is becoming a decent business. Do ya’ll happen to know what kind of chemical they use to spray the sheet rock and where you would get it? Supposably this stuff kills the existing mold and retards its growth.

btw A friend of mine tried clorox and it didn’t do the trick.

When I worked for an apartment complex we always used a product called Kills.

It might be spelled different, but that is how they pronounced it. They would spray it on the sheetrock, or just on the wall and then paint over it.

Thanks Zumba!

It’s called Killz. It’s for painting over water spots and stains. Works really good too.But you have to find out what’s causing the mold in the first place.Just painting over it won’t make it go away. You might need to replace some of the drywall. And some mold can be toxic. It’s called black mold.I got kinda sick from this stuff a couple years ago on a job. Here’s a little info about mold in the home.

Hey WB, you can visit the hardware paint store & ask for a bottle of stuff that does this, you mix it with your paint or get paint with it already in. I wish I knew what it is; but if youre going to use it, it would be best to use their formulation anyway.

That additive is Chlorothalanil.

It’s a very common Ag, Turf and Ornamental fungicide.

Killz will cover the problem, but it won’t kill or prevent mildew.
