What color should I dye my hair?

Im gonna dye my mop on augest 25, I was wondering if any of you had any ideas for a cool combination of colors or a pattern for me to utilize? If it turns out ok ill get a pic on the net for you all to laugh at my silliness. I was thinkin maybe plaid?

A friend with black hair just dyed hers red, you can still see some of the black and with the red it looks pretty cool.

Someone at the sub shop across the street is blond, she dyed hers pink and with a little of the blond showing thru the pink it too looks real cool. Sorry, I’m not much into patterns, sounds like too much work for me.

(hijack)I was just reading a box of hair dye yesterday, and was stunned at these words:

“Warning: Do not use on eyebrows or eyelashes. Use of this product on or near eyes may cause blindness.”

Blindness!!! I’ve heard of suffering for your art, but…

Hey, can I do it 'til I need glasses?

(/hijack)

Bleach it all and dye the top parts pink so you’ve got two ‘layers’ of hair. It’s cool but only works on girld.

If you’re a bloke then dye it red with black bits.

IMHO anyway.

I have black hair and currently have my hair streaked pink. If you haven’t dyed your hair before, I wouldn’t suggest doing anything too difficult to maintain, particularly if you have long hair - it’s fun at the start, but after 6 months, it gets to be annoying.

Plaids sound interesting, although if you’re anal about your hair matching your clothes (like me) it might get tedious after awhile. I’ve seen cropped-hair guys with images dyed into their hair and one spikey-hair guy with one side of his hair black and the other side pure white. If I were a guy, I’d love to get black and silver tiger stripes, but it’d be a bitch maintaining the silver.

Good luck!

I love changing my hair color - I do it so often, and I’ve had so many that my driver’s license description should say “subject to change without notice”. So, go for it. Try any color you want. It’s just hair - it’ll grow back. The only two pieces of advice I can give -

  1. Blue and green seem to be the hardest to maintain. A nice deep blue often requires bleaching to white, and re-applying the blue frequently. Otherwise, you end up with and oddly pastel head. Plus, if you use temporary colors, the white can stay porous and will keep traces of whatever - say you add a pink streak for a day, rinse it and put the blue back - two days later, surprise! A lavender stripe. Some combinations, of course, are not nearly as attractive.

  2. Manic Panic makes some really cool shades. However, they rub off on your pillow and shirt collars. Anything that causes you to break a sweat during the first day or so of wearing is likely to cause little colorful drips and dribbles.

Have fun…

I loooooove black.

As far as streaks and stripes go I agree with opinions previously posted, hard to maintain. A girl at my job here has streaks tied in (synthetic hair) and I think it looks great. Hers are blond, but you can die them as well. And if you tie them in first and then die your hair, say, red, you getting dark red (your own hair) and vivid red (the synthy stuff). When fed, up, just untie. Might get some myself, expect that the only snag is that I have no idea of the cost of these thingies.

Not intentional that, but do be careful as dying your hair does tend to kill it a bit.

The plaid sounds like a damn good idea to me! Whenever someone gets bored they can stare at your hair and count the boxes  [sub]Only if you don’t mind, of course[/sub]Seems pretty damn trippy.

Bright Red, & dye the forelock black!

I’m partial to a nice Kelly green or emerald shade, but I understand it’s a pain to achieve and maintain. If you do go for a green or blue, please make sure it’s a saturated hue–pale versions almost always look tacky.

The only thing that’s ever worked at all for me personally is a dark red, and that was temporary color. It’s just too much hassle–though if I last long enough for my hair to gray naturally, I may dye it green just for the hell of it.

Jet black and Forest green like that chick with the Go-gos!

well i did it and it is deep blue with a splash of bright red in the middle, its pretty decent, now as far as that pic,ill work on it
