Only one, but it’s not a conspiracy theory if it’s true. At that point it is a genuine conspiracy.
Anyway, the Steelers’ quarterback threw the Super Bowl in 1996. Watch the game, it’s all there, including his name, which is absolutely verboten and will never be said by me again.
I believe that from the 1960s up until the end of the hegemony of the big three broadcast networks, there was a conspiracy to make television shows moderately boring: just enough going on to keep a modicum of interest, but sufficiently bland and predictable that the advertisements were experienced as entertaining and innovative instead of being resented as interruptions.
ETA: and they all permitted the commercials to be louder than the shows.
I’ve said it before in one of these threads, but I think it bears repeating: I genuinely believe that Dr David Kelly was murdered.
And immediately after his death, it occurred to me that Robin Cook’s (an even more high-profile opponent of the UK government’s “evidence” towards the Iraq invasion) death was highly suspicious too, particularly because I read about an SAS assassination that had occurred in extremely similar circumstances, in the book The Feather Men. That one I’m not so sure about though, since there would have been little motive for murdering him other than spite.
I certainly don’t believe that Sarah Palin faked her last pregancy to cover for her daughter’s pregnancy, or for any other reason. I don’t think much of anybody ever really believed that, outside of some idle speculation.
But I do think there was something unusual and probably embarrassing about the pregnancy that we don’t know about. The long trek back to Alaska with a leaking bag was a huge risk to her and her baby’s lives, and it’s hard to justify without a more compelling reason than she ever gave.
Bilderburgers are planning to depopulate the world. Jet contrails are spraying viruses over the poor areas of the world. The Fed is the new Illuminati. RFI chips are the mark of the beast mentioned in the Bible. Marilyn Monroe shot JFK from behind the fence on the grassy knoll. She was murdered by Bobby Kennedy, and he was silenced to cover it up. Lee Harvey Oswald was just a damn good shot, but missed . Alex Jones is smarter than God. Coffins are being stockpiled and FEMA camps are being built to control us during the next artificial crisis. Al Gore is not a scientist but is part of a lobby of Eco-Hippies bent on changing your lifestyle.
Everything I have stated is not true. Except for the part about Al Gore.
I have to go now because BigFoot, not Big Brother, is watching me.
Details, details! I just think it’s too conveneient that all the eco-hippies warned against destroying the environment with dire warnings, and within a decade most of their fears came “true”.
I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone when he flew Rosebud into the World Trade Center on October 30, 1938 because he had been hypnotized by the Red Lectroids from Planet 10*.
and the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.
I’m John YaYa and I approved of this conspiracy theory.
Well, yes. If he’s not really Charles’ son, then he’s not eligible to ascend to the throne. That would make a difference to more than a couple people, I think.
I believe that NHL referees, supported by NHL Director of Officiating Andy Van Hellemond, deliberately undermined the NHL’s repeated efforts in the early part of the decade to enforce the rules against obstruction fouls.
The NBA is more fixed than big time wrestling. Not as assiduously scripted mind you, but over the course of the season and into the post-season, teams don’t win the championship, they are anointed with it.
One more: I think all the conspiracy theories re’ “one World Government” and “New World Order” are actually contrived by those who stand to continue to profit from the status quo of nation states at war and isolated.
Their worst nightmare is a world as envisioned by some of the “founding fathers” of the US, that is, one where the nations of the world would join together in a Global Federation similar to the Federation of States known as the United States of America.
Because that would mean the end of war as we know it (and all the associated profits from national debt, military contracts, etc.), a unified currency, global “democracy”, a global Constitution ensuring basic rights including, most likely, environmental protections, fair wages and safe working environments (and people of one nation could no longer as effectively be pitted against those of another or exploited as easily), and an end to Their ability to manipulate the people of the world for their own profit quite as easily overall.
Imagine, a world in which nation states cooperated and had political and legal recourse and no longer had any benefit to gain from waging war against one another over disputes.
So they create a conspiracy theory that makes THEM (the Multinationals/Corporate Interests/Overlords) the bad guys who WANT such a global system of government and oversight so that the masses will reject such an idea out of hand, when in fact, this is exactly the system They DON’T want.
I think global federation is the next logical step for Humankind and the solution to damn near every problem we face. People who think Washington and others advocated the exportation of US style government to other nations are mistaken; they advocated the eventual use of the US model on a global scale, believing it to be the only hope for the world.
Einstein also was a big advocate of the idea of global federation; why he supported the UN so strongly as a fetal version of the concept in action. Thing is, it is time to move beyond the ineffective UN model and onto actual federation involving enforcable rights and consequences, free of nation-state politics.
For those who say it could never work, many said that about the U.S. efforts at the time. It worked and it could work globally. Sure, there would likely be a few nations who refused, same as there were states (nations) within the US who refused at the time, but that doesn’t matter. Even if Texas, say, had refused forever to join the federation, they would still find themselves 1. at a serious disadvantage when it came to free trade and travel and all the other perks of belonging to the club 2. in a position of suicide when it came to attempting any aggression upon their neighbors who were IN the federation; the feds would swoop in and squash them like a bug.
The key is balancing state/nation rights to their own laws and customs with certain very basic, federal, universal rights all must adhere to…something still being worked out in the US model, and likely to be an ongoing issue, but overall, the fact that Oregon has never gone to war with California, say, is evidence enough that such conflicts can be worked out w/o mass slaughter and other mayhem.
It is the LOGICAL next step…and no coincidence that Star Trek featured a “Federation of Planets”…um, hello! ;)
I think there may have been some genuine government coverups in the past that were fuelled not so much by Knowing something, as Not Wanting To Know. People in the government are people, and there are some things they themselves might be afraid to find out, if only to avoid the unnecessary paperwork.
E.g., it seems clear 40 years on that Oswald acted alone. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t at the same time a government effort to ensure that was the conclusion that was reached, anyway. What if a completely impartial investigation found strong evidence that it really was the Soviets or the Cubans behind Kennedy’s murder. The man was dead, what good would it be to risk a world war over him?
I believe that Elvis Presley is still alive. His alleged death was nothing more than an elaborate cover up hatched by the Illuminati who wanted him to assassinate the pope and then the Ayotollah.
Both attempts failed, Elvis’s memory was wiped clean and his features altered, he’s now working in a KFC in Manchester, UK.
It seems like of all the cultures around, they’ve been – you should pardon the gross over-generalization here – the most civilized for the longest time. If the Up-Theres were looking around for a culture to make contact with Down Here, it seems like they’d eventually come to settle on one that seemed stable and level-headed.
I feel that September 11th was a set up, and it went flawlessly, tragedy breeds loyalty, and Bush got what he wanted triple fold, and still does (not loyalty to Bush, but rather America).
