What could this exercise regime be?

Young people moved into a rental in the neighborhood. We probably wouldn’t have noticed except they do free weights every AM and we hear the clang and bang. So Thanksgiving day they had people over. And were doing a run thru the mountains here. Then they ran home, did their weights very quickly for maybe 10 minutes - kettle bells, small weights etc., then ran like hell up the street a block or 2, ran back, weights, run, weights, run etc. I would like to know what this exercise regime is for specifically? Heart rate??

Sounds like interval training to me. There are many different ways to do it. Performing short, intense intervals with minimal (but calculated) breaks between exercises is the most effective way to increase one’s cardiovascular conditioning and VO Max. Look up Tabata. Olympic athletes use them, too.

They make you do it in the army. Sprints, with sets of push-ups in between.

Sounds like a CrossFit WOD to me.

WOD (Workout Of the Day).

I am a CrossFit-ter.

Thanks! I didn’t even know how to Google it
