There have been a few films to make the effort, but unless you consider Chloe Sevginey a mainstream star, it has consisted of anonymous actors and actresses.
But let’s say a famous, respected director like Roman Polanksy or Ang Lee wanted to include hardcore sex scene in one of their serious films.
What current actors or actresses would be most willing to do it?
I think the A-listers would pass on the role. I think it might have to be some less successful performers, hoping the trend develops and it elevates their careers.
I’m thinking someone like Heather Graham might be the female. Not sure about the male choice, but I think the size of the guy’s junk would probably play a role in his decision. Even if it were groundbreaking cinema, you don’t want to show everyone your little peep without the “not a shower, but a grower” defense.
Paz Vega didn’t do hard core, but she gave a guy a hand job, so that’s heading in the right direction. While I don’t consider her “A” list, she’s certainly “B” list.
Of the “A” list people that I think would do it? I could see Nicole Kidman doing it, she’s never been hesitant about nudity in her films.
Ewan McGregor definitely would, the film justified such a scene. Hell, he buggered Christian Bale on the roof in Velvet Goldmine–though of course, that was shot at a tasteful distance. Still the greatest moment in cinema history.
A-List? Doubtful. B-List though… I came here to mention Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrel, and Kate Winslet, all of whom have already been mentioned. I’m thinking any of the various rapper/actors might do it. I’d add James McAvoy.
I’m gonna go on a lark and bet that the obvious choice, Angelina Jolie, wouldn’t do it.
And if common perception is valid, all of those supposedly accidently or maliciously leaked home sex tapes were more like ‘accidently on purpose’ so add all those actors to the list (of whom Colin is already there).
That sex scene on the stairs in A History of Violence was pretty hardcore.
But seriously- are we talking about actual sexual penetration here? Or just a sex “scene?” James Spader got his serious freak on in Crash, screwing the wound in that girl’s leg- he might go for it. Ditto Holly Hunter.
