What date is it?

Now, as far as I can tell, according to my trusty Casio watch, the little clock on my computer, and by the few calendars I have, right now it is April 6, 2000 at/about 11:20pm (Eastern time). I look at the dates of the posts here in MPSIMSLand, and they were all made tomorrow, April 7, 2000! Perhaps I’m losing my mind, and it has been a long day, but I don’t think posts being made 24 hours from now should be appearing on the board.

Then again, what do I know.

Jeremy…

Nobody ever calls me after they’ve done something smart.

I just noticed that when I posted in a thread and it appeared midway to the bottom???

I just noticed the same thing…the date for this thread is correct, so UBB put it in the correct spot on the board…towards the bottom. Looks like we’re stuck with some 4/7’s up at the top for the next few hours. Unless they bump up to 4/8 tomorrow. This is getting complicated.

It’s a fairly common phenomenon. When the techs have to take the board down, completely, all the posts in a particular range get their dates bumped up by one day. As we post to each topic, it will generally take the current date/time stamp so that the topics with “tomorrow’s” date will slowly disappear.

tomndebb: I’ve never heard of it happening that way. It seems more likely that they just set the date wrong on the server and it took them a while to fix it.

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

The mis-dated posts are not a server problem, but rather proof of time travel. Our time line has been ‘polluted’, but not in a manner that is threatening to us.

Gee, I don’t think any of us expected him to say that.

I thought the Earth tilted on it’s axis and I lost a day while completely.

Of course I kept thinking it was Thursday on Wednesday and Friday on Thursday – this has been a very strange week!

Damnit…

That should have read:

…while completely awake.
Told ya, this has been a strange week for me!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that mysterious forces were at work. I’m sure that it’s just a clock being accidentally reset incorrectly as someone boots up (or something similar). My point was that on at least three other occasions over the last several months, when the whole board had dropped, all the recent posts came back post-dated by many hours. By my method of reckoning, that is “fairly common.”
