Having just come from seeing “Avatar” and having seen the most recent “Beowulf” when it came out, it strikes me it is probably just a matter of time before Hollywood decides it can “resurrect” deceased movie stars to play in new roles. That being the case, whom would you suggest for what role? (For instance, Humphrey Bogart as the newest Indiana Jones?)

Fess Parker should star as Gil Thorp. Or Mark Trail. Hell, both.
He’s not *technically *dead yet, but the Davy Crockett/Daniel Boone era Fess is the only way to go.
Actually, I see even more potential for computer “regression” of elderly living actors than for “resurrection” of deceased ones – More people would probably rather see Harrison Ford voice a CGI Indiana Jones-in-his-prime movie than would care about seeing Young Douglas Fairbanks Jr. return to action roles.
But I suspect plenty of directors would want to remake all those '80s S.E Hinton “youth novel” movies starring CGI James Dean.
Young Doug Fairbanks Jr. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Gary Cooper as James Bond. Aw hell, just about anyone. He was so handsome.
Peter Lorre as Hannibal Lechter.
None of that computer animated BS for me. Let’s have George Burns continue the ongoing Weekend at Bernie’s saga.
Any Western; John Wayne
Any Movie with a Vegas theme; Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop
They pretty much did that with Avatar. Sigourney Weaver dropped at least 30 years when she was blue in that flick.
I’d pay good money to see that.
They kinda did this in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow using archival footage of Laurence Olivier.
What Deceased Movie Star Should Be in What New Role?
Heath Ledger, as
Imaginarium Tony #1,
Imaginarium Tony #2, and
Imaginarium Tony #3
in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
(although I thought that Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell did a fantastic job stepping into the role, and that the changes were seamless.)
