One thing is the breast meat was white instead of tan.
Foster Farms started the trend to add saffron to the chicken feed to color the meat.
Now they all do it. You can even call your chicken “organic” if you do that because it’s not a drug.
I think that stinks.

How expensive are these chickens, saffron ain’t cheap! Must’ve made all those laborers in Kashmir and Spain very happy. Good ol’ Frank Perdue used marigold petals for the same effect. His farms used to get boxcar loads of these flowers.
