And, you intentionally placed your thread IMHO. I gave you MHO.
You’ve now restated your question as:
Maybe. I am 95% certain that he would like to be President. But, he’s equivocating on his answer to the question, and absolutely refusing to give a straight answer. For all we know, his answer might actually be “anyone else but Trump.”
He’s trying to walk a tightrope and not commit to anyone at this point, including himself. It’s an effective smoke screen to keep everyone guessing. Does anyone really care who Pence is ultimately going to endorse?
The weird thing is the context of the premise. It was that Trump is the nominee. So that eliminates any scenario in which Pence is the nominee (or DeSantis or some other Republican).
The only other person who would be there for Pence to vote on would be the nominee of another party; either the Democratic nominee or some third party candidate.
So what Pence could have been hinted at is “If Trump wins the Republican nomination, I might vote for Biden.”
Within the confines proposed by the OP as acceptable scope of answers to his questions …
My view is Pence said “I want someone other than Trump to be the nominee. In fact I would like the nominee to be me. I rather doubt it will be me, but a guy can hope. But I’ll take almost anyone other than Trump as the nominee.”
That’s what he said. But what he meant was: “I refuse to answer the question asked. I am therefore providing a Sphynx-like mostly meaningless pronouncement that others can search endlessly & fruitlessly for any real meaning”. But of course he’s crap at that level of sophisticated wordplay, so it came out as my prior paragraph said
I’m not sure you and I can take great pride in being mind-melded with the likes of Pence. But I for one am honored to be mind-melded with the likes of you.
Based on the OP’s actions in this thread, this is closed.
In the future, do not berate others for simply trying to answer your question as stated. Treat other users with respect in all forums (except the Pit, of course).
