Does anyone know what banned substance Raphael Palmiero tested posititive for?
Where can I find a list of substances banned by MLB?

OH. I thought you meant Raffi
phew. Carry on.
No official word yet, and MLB policy is to not disclose exact substance. So it is up to Raffie to say.
Ok, I didn’t know that, and I figured it had already been leaked somewhere and was on the web. As an orioles fan, it is very sad, coupled with how poorly they have been playing lately makes it four times as bad.
I know it’s said, but hopefully your not too surprised. I was disappointed when my fears about Giambi were confirmed, but not surprised. There is a whole list of players I would though into this category, including a very famous OF the O’s picked up this year.
Sad not Said. Darn.
I thought this was about the children’s entertainer, too.
Flash on a Morrison-like impromptu indecent exposure during a performance of “Baby Beluga.”

Actually I was surprised. I am niave enough to have believed his ardent denial of steroid use before congress, and then there is the fact that he is not all bulky looking, and the fact that he has never been on the DL in 20 years, which is pretty much unheard of in a steroid abuser. Very said. Most likely there goes any chance to the Hall of Fame.
Eric Byrnes?!?! No way!
He’s a lttile older and has an excess of Esses.
I have suspected quite a few players of steroid abuse, Raffy being amongst them, but I’m rather surprised he would get caught. After the Congressional hearing and the newly instituted drug screening, why would he be so stupid as to be juicing? It’s possible he could face perjury charges for lying to Congress, is it not? Although that would probably depend on when exactly he started juicing, which is something that may never be known.
Does anyone actually buy his story that he was being given illegal steroids without his knowledge? What kind of athlete would allow that?
I don’t buy, he asking us to believe he is a complete idiot.
How about this one instead. “Well my Chemist told me it was an undetectable Steroid. Damn him!!!” I think this is far more likely.
This afternoon, Sporting News Radio had Jose Conseco on the line. I was very fortunate indeed to hear the interview. According to Mr. Conseco, Rafael Palmeiro is absolutely not taking steroids at this time, and is being set up by MLB and the very corrupt and evil Players Association. According to Mr. Conseco: “I definitely do not believe that Rafael is using steroids right now. In the past, he has, but not right now. Obviously, they are picking this time to fight this battle when there is some kind of testing policy involved, and now trying to take out Rafael Palmeiro for what he may have done in the past.”
He went on to say, “I would do a major, major investigation on his urinalysis sample — if it was missing for any period of time — and I’d keep a strong eye on Major League Baseball and the players’ association, especially on their leaders.”
Mr. Conseco has clearly gone insane.
I am very glad you added the last line.
Actually, THAT Raffi has always been very up front about the fact that he was a long-haired, pot-smoking hippie who lived on a commune in the Sixties, and spent years trying to become the next Next Dylan, before finding how much money he could make singing for kids.
That’s not quite how he put it. I think his case is shaping up to be more of “there was an illegal substance in some supplement I was taking and I didn’t know about it.” I’m not saying I buy it, but I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility.
A rooffie?
That may be, but Mr. Canseco is about the only person in this steroid scandal who has not been proven a liar.
Thanks for the clarification.
Canseco’s claims that he personally injected steroids into Palmeiro, Rodriguez and McGwire have not been validated.
