What did you do on Christmas Eve?

I spend the day at the Zoo and at the Seattle Art Museum.

Then I made Jambalaya.

Everybody got their Black and Decker… Blood and Fettuccini everywhere

I did all my Christmas shopping.

Some drink at the fountain of knowledge…others just gargle.

Spent the day relaxing then had my brother and a friend over for dinner and we watched Its A Wonderful Life.

A true friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out…there are Angels among us

I took my son sliding. He named the hill “Dismemberment Gorge” after a Calvin and Hobbes comic. He only planted his face once.

After that, we opened presents. I gave him a huge chemistry set, and we made some polymer goop. Then we played with his radio-controlled tractor thing. Fun stuff.

I dropped him off at his mother’s about an hour ago. (This house feels a little extra empty tonight.) But next week we’re going sliding at a hill that has an actual tow rope for getting back up.

Merry Christmas to all.

My husband, baby son, and I went over to my sister’s to open presents, watch “A Christmas Story”, and goof off. It was great since this is the first Christmas for her twins and my son. They had a ball playing in the play tunnel my Mom got the twins for Christmas.

Merry Christmas (and big hugs) to all…

Prairie Rose

I spent my evening talking to friends… drinking wine and listening to christmas carols

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

I got off work around noon, spent $20 on batteries. Then went to see my Nanny at the nursing home.

For supper, we (me and the kids) went to my brothers house, where his kids and mine opened some gifts. My dad and stepmom were there.

Ted had a play at church, and after that, we came home, they watched a video while I soaked in the tub.

Its midnight now, and I am half in the bag.Its wierd being the only adult here tonight. This is the first year Shitboy hasnt joined us for Christmas morning.

The santa stuff is all set up.

I am going to bed soon.

much love to you all, Merry Christmas!

Slept in until 11.

Wrapped the presents for my parents.

Watched football and helped mom make Christmas dinner.

Went to mass, and realized how much I miss my old church. sigh

Came home, ate dessert (homemade cranberry-cherry pie…mmmmm.), went upstairs to hang out.

All in all, a pretty mundane Christmas. Which is JUST FINE with me.

“Jesus Mary Joseph…you’re a biker chick!” - co-worker, upon hearing of my tattoo.

Spent a few hours helping out at a nearby homeless shelter this afternoon - that felt great. Tonight I cleaned out the fireplace and had an artichoke for dinner. The kitties are sitting by the fire, and I’m about to watch My Life As A Dog.

Nice quiet Christmas, just me and the kids.

“Not everybody does it, but everybody should.”
I Spy Ty.

Drank a lot of beer, ate a lot of Cajun food.

Watched “Grinch” and “It’s a Wonderful Life,” mandatory Christmas staples.

Decorated the kid’s tree. Again.

Listened to my husband scream and whine as he tried to wrap my presents. Got a real fire going in the fireplace, despite the fact that it’s around 55-60 here.

Drank more beer.

Watched "Lost Boys. Will continue plan to watch more movies and drink more beer till I’m looped enough to face the evil words “Some Assembly Required” and “Batteries Not Included.”

I just got home (and checked the board right away). The day was spent getting wine for tonight and basket fixin’s for tomorrow. We had a great dinner at my partner’s place. Her hubby’s a great cook and I’m enjoying how much it hurts to move - traditional turkey with crawfish and dirty rice stuffing - mmm-mmmm! Partner’s hubby’s mom was there and I really enjoy the gal - had good long conversations with her and partner’s brother and (brand spankin’ new) fiance (didja see the ring?). Partner’s hubby and I just made a killer well - confirmed this week - we tried not to talk shop, but it’s hard when we needed it so badly and I think it may turn things around for us. He said, “For the first time in five years, I’m looking forward to getting to work on Monday.”

So, everybody was right with their world for the night and it made for a cheery holiday evening. I even thought it OK that all the kids existed (JK). I left when they took off for midnight mass.

Tomorrow I’ll finish the basket and roll over to the ex’ and take her and her visiting sister and niece to Xmas dinner at her old roomie’s place (a guy I haven’t seen in at least 5 years). It’ll be OK. I have a funny feeling the message on the machine is her wanting me to pick up something on the way. I’ll check it in the morning.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

I went to the gym, washed my car, and then we, my two sons and me, went out looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights.
It has just now gotten really cold here in Atlanta, and it made it seem more special to shiver and huddle together in front of the fireplace after we got home.

Merry Christmas ya’ll!!

“Consider it a challenge…”

I spent my day:
Grocery shopping for myself and my friend who is STILL laid up with a broken ankle

Make 5lbs of Scalloped potatoes for the family dinner

Attended said dinner at my sisters house and exchanged presents with the family (got some groovy stuff)

Came home and made a pan of baked beans and sweet potato casserole for the Christmas dinner at Mr. Zette’s moms house tomorrow.

Exchanged gifts with the hubby.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Worked from 11 AM to 8 PM (don’t cry for me; in exchange, I get completely off New Year’s Eve). Spent most of it surfing the web. Figured out how to use chat for the first time (thanks to everyone who put up with me; I was kind of giddy for having finally gotten into that esteemed area).

Went back to my parents’ house (w/ girlfriend in tow) for Christmas Eve celebrations. Sang Christmas Carols (and proved, no matter what people may say about the true origins of Italians, we are white to the bone. No rythym or tone amidst any of us). Went out w/ girlfriend and sisters to view the Insane House (gentleman on the Silver Spring/D.C. border who has more lights on his house than the Twin Towers have windows; he has 50 small but decorated trees (one for each state), a thirty-foot tall snowman, and a life-sized manger scene. If you’re in the D.C. area, and want directions, just ask. It has to be seen to be believed).

Anyways. Came home, hung out, discovered the wonders of DirectTV (500 channels! 3 of them porn! 50 of them sports!), found out that my father is enrolling in some sort of school to teach him how to drag race, that he has already completely restored a beat-up pick-up into drag-racing condition, and that he plans to spend his retirement drag racing competetively. Wow.

Right now, it’s 3 in the morning. I can’t sleep, but I’ve never been able to sleep on Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas, y’all, and may the New Year find you happy and warm inside your well-provisioned fallout shelters.

I did all of my Christmas shopping.
Watched A CHRISTMAS CAROL and THE LEMON DROP KID on AMC.
As I write this, I’m watching A CHRISTMAS STORY on TNT.

Slept till 10:30, when my “extra” kid woke me up to make him some “coffee” (about an inch of coffee, milk to the top, four teaspoons of sugar). Made coffee, realized we were out of milk.

Woke Bowen, discovered that he’d thrown up at some point during the night. Changed crib sheet, bathed boy.

Gathered 115 pop cans to return for deposit. Bundled both boys, went to grocery store. About a block away, realized I’d forgotten the cans. Went back home.

Collected cans, went back to the store, carted two boys and cans to return machines, only to find out that all machines were full. Took cans inside to be counted manually.

Received $5.75 for my trouble, went on a mission to get milk, garbage bags, Coke, molasses, and possibly some cheap plastic cookie-cutters. Miraculously, I was able to find some.

Went home, put groceries away, made the boy a cup of “coffee” and spent the rest of the day cleaning my entire house. I now feel like I’m in someone else’s house.

My aunt (the mother of my “extra” kid) arrived about 5:00 with about 100 pounds of food and 100 pounds of presents for tomorrow’s family celebration.

We all piled into the station wagon to go to my mom’s for dinner and presents. My brother was a no-show. Left about an hour and a half later.

Came back home with aunt and cousin, opened more presents. Read the boys a bedtime story and sent them to bed 'round 11:00. Since then, I’ve cleaned my kitchen again, made cookies, cleaned my kitchen a third time and am presently taking a break from Christmas in general. I expect to get about 3 hours of sleep before I have to re-clean my house for guests.

But it was a pretty good day, actually!

Got dressed as Santa and handed out presents at some close friends’ family gathering.

Then went home.

Wishing all you at the SDMB Happy Xmas and a GREAT 2000 and beyond!

Did morning chores.
Scooted over to Oneonta to do some early morning grocery shopping.
Fed and cleaned cows again.
Checked the board around noon.

Spent an hour and a half in afternoon cleaning about a ton of grain off the floor of our hiefer barn after a cow got loose and somehow flipped the on switch to the grain auger.

Afternoon cleaning and feeding then milking.
Fell asleep on couch at 7pm., woke up at 11 and went to bed.

As for Christmas got to the barn a little before 3 and milked, fed and cleaned. Did enough extra by 5:30 am so that we don’t need to go to work again until 3 pm. That is of course contingent upon no cows birthing or any other immediate problems. Opening present at parents at 8 am and then to my grandmother’s for dinner around noonish.

Merry Christmas.

Spent it in the Emergency dept, 12 hour shift with another one in the peds ICU for xmas day. Had a pt stop breathing in the middle of an IV start, turned out ok, but a little un-nerving,
