Although I posted some of this information on another thread on the GD, that thread is getting stale, repetitious and way off topic. Besides, I thought we should examine what ex-Muslims have to say about Islam. I have already pointed out the international campaign against Sharia law, made up of extremely brave women who are risking their very lives to keep Sharia law from being introduced into western law systems.
I have contributed generously to the campaign of these courageous women, and I think anyone who believes in freedom should do so. Their site is here
If you want to see how truly revolting but hilarious religion can be, read this article about Mohamed’s hygiene tips to his followers. It is not fictional, although the comment that accompanies each entry seems to be a bit sardonic. This collection of statements by Mohamed is by someone named Ayesha Ahmed, but I would guess that to be the *nom de plume * of an ex-Muslim who like most apostates from Islam is too addicted to being alive to give his or her real name. Ayesha has a whole series of articles worth reading, including something on the Danish cartoons.
Most of the quotes in the hygiene article are from what are known as Hadiths. They are not actual quotes from the Koran, but they are recorded sayings of Mohamed, and some of them are amazing, truly amazing. I love the part about Satan urinating in your nose while you sleep. And I thought it was just my partner sitting on my face last night.
What is less funny is that the Hadiths, while not as important as the actual Koran, are nontheless constantly quoted and widely-used guideposts used by hundreds of millions Mulsims every day. Yet you have only to read them to get the picture of Mohamed as an ignorant, superstitious and primitive, manipulative man whose ideas are nonetheless being unleashed and imposed on the modern world. Followers of a man who thought hygiene included getting Satan’s piss out of your nose are in the 21st Century refusing to use hand lotion when visiting hospitals because it has alcohol in it.
Many Muslim apostates contribute interesting articles to the **Faith Freedom International ** web site to be found here .
I have been told that my opinions do not count because I am simply a bigot who does not understand Islam. Presumably, the people posting on these sites DO understand Islam, having experienced it first-hand.
According to the home page of FFI:
“Faith Freedom International is a grassroots movement of ex-Muslims. Its goals are to (a) unmask Islam and show that it is an imperialistic ideology akin to Nazism but disguised as religion and (b) to help Muslims leave it, end this culture of hate caused by their “us” vs. “them” ethos and embrace the human race in amity. We strive for the unity of Mankind through the elimination of Islam, the most insidious doctrine of hate. Islam can’t be reformed, but it can be eradicated. It can’t be molded, but it can be smashed. It is rigid but brittle. That is why Muslims do not tolerate criticism of it. To eradicate Islam, all we have to do is tell the truth. It’s as simple as that. The truth is out. Now it is up to you to spread it. With truth, the decent Muslims will leave Islam and with each Muslim that leaves, we gain a new soldier in our fight against obscurantism and hate. We are growing exponentially, The days of Islam are numbered. Many of us will see that day.”
Personally, I think that last comment is a bit too optimistic, but I wish them well. I doubt if the evil bitch of religion, whether it is Chrsitianity, Islam or any other, will go down without a fight.
So it is your choice, dear reader. You can call FFI a hate site and brush it away if it contradicts your prejudices, or you can read what actual ex-Muslims have to say about their former religion.
Finally, are there any ex-Muslims who would like to contribute to this debate? And BTW, where are the actual, practising Muslims? Are there no Muslims who are members od Straight Dope? I do not recall seeing one.
