Most HR departments will black out that stuff on resumes before they send them on to the hiring manager. That can get you in trouble – claims that you didn’t hire someone because of bias against one of those categories, several of which are protected classes under USA employment law.
There are a whole lot of houses in Chicago that have stairs immediately when you open the door to the basement. The Chicago Bungalow has stairs that begin immediately. In some you have ~5 steps down, then a landing from which an exterior back door opens, and then another 10 or so steps below that to the basement. But falls down those stairs are common, and horrible. My grandmother ended up with broken bones and severe concussion as a young mother falling down the basement stairs and hitting her head on the concrete floor in a house identical to this one.
Conversations in public. around here, arab/muslim taxi drivers cannot seem to communicate with each other without shouting. It is extremely annoying and intrusive. keep it down.
I haven’t read every post, but two things immediately jumped out at me, as a Canadian.
I don’t take taxis often, but there’s nothing at all wrong with sitting in the front seat here. In fact I think it’s expected. It would be strange for one person to get in the back. If I was with another person, then sure, we’d both get in the back. If there were three or four of us then someone will definitely get in the front. I had no idea.
All houses have basements here and all basement doors open to stairs. (There might be the odd exception, but I’m talking about typical houses.) The doors always open towards you, so there’s no chance of opening a door and falling through it. You need to back up by a foot or two while pulling the door open. Hopefully you see the stairs then. I can’t ever recall any stories of anyone falling down the basement stairs because they weren’t aware there were stairs there. Ever.

I’m going to go back to one given earlier that some men need to understand that in the US, yes, you have to respect and take orders from women.
Also some men have to realize its ok for a male doctor in the US to see his wife naked.
