What do y'all think about the "We Didn't Start The Fire" reboot by Fall Out Boy?

My least favorite Billy Joel sing meets my least favorite modern band? Now where did i leave that ice pick?

The original song is about a Baby Boomer turning 40. It’s definitely not one of Joel’s best songs - his hit singles rarely are - but at least it has a point of view. This new song is just a historical word jumble.

FanFic.

The point is that for a list song of major events they certainly left a lot out.

That’s the whole thing? I assumed it was just an excerpt.

No, that was just me clumsily hacking together a verse of things they didn’t mention.

Hehee, this is so bad Pat Finnerty did an emergency “What Makes this Song Stink?” live YT broadcast for it. It was pretty good, but the song was so bad I couldn’t finish it. I’d link to it, but he mentioned he’s going to eventually take it down.

Oh, i totally misunderstood. Sorry.

Not to pile on, but agree this is just word salad without meaning. If they had interpreted it differently musically I might have given it a pass. But as it is, it’s nudging up against Weird Al territory.

Side note: there’s a podcast called We Didn’t Start The Fire that’s pretty good. It runs through all of the BJ picks.

Pat’s pretty funny. The Weezer ep 3 is hilarious.

I think the fact that Billy Joel says that it is the worst song that he has ever written should have given pause to anyone planning to revive it.

He’s already taken it down. I’m guessing he was amusing. I’m a fan of his stuff.

BINGO!
