I’d attribute the accent more to partying in art school than counsel-speak.
Although it probably is a career choice many art students and other semi-professional partiers end up making, so the confusion is excusable.
Yeah, that’s pretty close. Funny thing is, I was a performance art major in college, but my teacher was a middle-aged punk lesbian who specialized in guerilla confrontational art, and NEVER explained herself. Very cool broad, and about 180 degrees different from the performance art douchebag of the Ghost World clip.
It’s definitely not her full-time voice, though; just when someone is traumatized. She even labeled it as “insincere” when it’s used as a default.
Okay … I think I found a female example. Difficult to find, since it’s hard to know what to search for.
The examples of New Age gurus talking to a video camera don’t carry the full range of inflections you’d hear in a two-way interactive live conversation. Know what I mean? Oh, I so know what you mean by that!!!
