In this picture, a donut graph shows the ethnic makeup of an individual. Each segment of the donut is further subdivided into exterior rings, which are then further subdivided.
Is there a name for this type of graph, and what software would you use to make one?
It’s called a multilevel pie chart or multilevel donut chart. You can make them in Excel by making a donut chart and then right clicking on the chart and then choosing select data/add.
I’m not sure how you make the data line up. I just found this by searching the graphs in Excel. I assume there is on line help.
Excel does allow “bar of pie” charts that have the same fuctionality, but a different layout. If you’re not tied to the doughnut layout, check out bar of pie.
