What do you do, how much do you work, how much time off do you get?

In keeping with the recent work-related threads:

What’s your job?
How much do you work?
How much time off do you get?

To lead off:
Geologist.
In office 11 hrs/day Mon-Fri and 1-4 hrs/day 2-4 weekend days/month. On-call 24/7, usually resulting in 30-50 night and weekend hrs/month logging in from home.
10 days off for major holidays (Christmas, etc.), 15 days vacation/year, 4 sick days/year.
The on-call thing isn’t as bad as it sounds, if you want to go out of town without being bothered, you can usually find someone to cover for you. The only difficulties are on major holidays, when everybody wants to go someplace, which usually results in everybody taking care of themselves.

High School Teacher

Duty hours are 7:45am to 3:05pm 5 days a week. I’m the Speech/Debate coach, so add to that afternoon practices 3 days a week and 22 Saturdays/Sundays a season.

I work minimum 8 hrs a week in bookstore usually 16. I do college work 4 or 5 days a week. Hours vary, maybe 30hrs a week.

I get a lot of free time because I’m lazy and because I have flexible working days in the store. I would say this last year I have had 60 days off.

I would say I have

Moot points, since I’m quitting soon and will be making my own schedule. I can’t wait!

Assistant to the Associate Dean

30 days of leave per year, plus, if not deployed, federal holidays. You can’t always take your full amount of leave, though (especially if you’re deployed), so we’re allowed to keep 60 days in the bank (I think this recently got increased to 75 days). Right now I have 60 days of leave stored up, in addition to another 15 or so that I have to take by the end of the fiscal year.

11A-7P Tuesdays

I get vacation time according to a complicated schedule that I can’t understand (and that our payroll lady is “too busy” to explain to anyone), but at the end of the day it works out to about 3 full weeks per year

Vacation = 3 week per year. All major holidays off. 6 sick days per year, which I never take.

Accounting Type.

I get 22 days vacation and then sick and personal days one at a time as needed without abuse. We get about ten holidays, and usually have the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day off as well.

What’s your job? * Consulting Civil Engineer. Specialty: hydrology & hydraulics. I’m self-employed, have my own one-person company.
*
How much do you work?
That’s hard to say. In the mornings, I work out of my home office so my work is mixed up with housework & errands. I also sub-contract from another company, this work is done between 1 and 5 at my “downtown” office. After 5 I return to the home office and again mixed up work/housework/cooking etc. until about 10 pm. On weekends it’s mixed up work/housework/errands all weekend.
*
How much time off do you get?* Whatever I want, it’s just unpaid. No paid vacations, no paid sick leave. OTOH the boss is a real cool lady.

Paralegal.

Work from 9 - 5:30 with a 1-hour lunch, although I don’t do much of anything other than Doping before lunch.

I get 12 days of vacation a year, plus all Federal holidays.

I work in broadcasting. I won’t be more specific than that.

I work 8a-5p Mon-Fri, although I am frequently here by 7:45am at the latest.

I’ve been at the company for 10 years, so I have four weeks of vacation, three float days, eight flex days (which I get paid for if I don’t use them) as well as various national holidays.

Web-based Application Developer, usually for Engineering/Earth Science/Environmental consultancies & related Municipal/Provincial Departments, but also NGOs. Also studying again - geocomputing degree.

Mon, Wed, Fri - 9-12, Tu Thurs, 9-5/6 so figure 25 hours a week? Then there’s around 30 hrs a week on varsity work.

I can take off as and when I want to (own company), but generally around 40 days off a year, not including sick days and public holidays (of which we have I think around 20)

Cheif Engineer in new product development
about 45 hours a week
9 holidays; no sick leave; 1 volunteer day; 28 days personal time per year.

Lead designer at my own Web site & Web-based software company

I roll out of bed around 9:30 and work until 5:30 or until I’m finished (which may not be until 5AM).
Some weeks it’s 40 hours some it’s 100, or anything inbetween. It goes in spurts.

I take 5-10 days off per year plus national holidays. Haven’t been on a vacation since 2004. There’s only 3 of us that work for my company and we try to make sure there’s at least 2 of us here at a time. We basically work around our clients’ schedules, not ours.

Project Scheduler - I work for a major contractor working for a Gov’t Agency (civilian - none of that killing/spying stuff)
