Me and the g/f are kinda lame and we like to do puzzles. Every month or so someone will grab a cheapy and on a gloomy evening we’ll try and put it together. This is all fine and dandy. The issue pops up when we’re done. What the hell do you do with it afterwards? It usually sits there staring at us for a few days clogging up the table, then I’ll try (and fail) to break it up in mostly complete chunks and put it back in the box. Then it lands in my closet…forever.
I usually put in the last piece and within seconds start disassembling. Let’s be honest, the pictures being so broken up really aren’t very attractive. The point of a puzzle is the doing, not the finished product. I pass on my puzzles to friends or relatives, but just plopping it down and saying, “Here’s a good puzzle you and your family might enjoy on some weekend.”
I break up the edge pieces and put them in a plastic baggie so it will be easier to sort them out next time. Then I either save it in the closet to do again, sell it in a garage sale, donate it to a friend or Goodwill.
I donated one to charity along with a bunch of other crap like clothes. I didn’t bother breaking it up into its 1,000 pieces because that would have been a lot of unnecessary work if I’m not going to assemble it again. I just broke it up into enough parts that it could fit in the box again.
