What do you do with the leftover turkey?

What do I do with my leftover turkey? I have a 14 year old boy. All leftovers somehow magically disappear from the kitchen.

7 Jack Russels, never had leftovers to worry about.

Sandwiches, of course. But the skeleton and all the rest goes in the gumbo pot.

Mmmm…gumbo…food of the ghods. SWMBO’s got a big pot going in the kitchen and the house smells even better than it did when she was cooking the turkey on Thursday. Mmmmm…

Holy cow. You must have the patience of a saint! My sister has two, and they are a handful!

“This is one of the most useful recipes, for though not ‘chic’, it tells us what to do with turkey after the holiday, and how to extract the most value from it. Take the remnants, or, if they have been consumed, take the various plates on which the turkey or its parts have rested and stew them for two hours in milk of magnesia. Stuff with mothballs.”

This was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is in the Nonsense and Stray Phrases section of his writings titled “The Crack Up”. This particular “recipe” is called “Turkey Remains and How to Inter Them with Numerous Scarce Recipes”.
