I actually don’t know about that. It’s possible to encode that information in a normal AM or FM signal, so there’s nothing that ties it to digital.
Podcasts, basically every time I’m alone. I follow about 20 different ones, and there’s one I like so much that I sprinkle the back catalog through my current “up next” list. Which means that I’m about a month behind on everything, but slowly catching up.
When someone does ride with me, I switch to the XM radio (grandfathered lifetime subscription) and listen to music. Before I got into podcasts, I would normally listen to the XM comedy stations.
I plug my phone into my car, for several reasons: a) more than 20 days of music, over 7000 songs, available for me to listen to and I already know and like the vast majority of the songs; 2) keeps my phone battery charged; and it lets me take calls, since it automatically switches off the music when I answer the phone (with my earpiece, natch).
Sometimes I do listen to a CD tho. I always keep one in the car player, just in case. For the past year it’s only been 2 CDs: Waco Jesus’s Sex Drugs & Death Metal and Dr. Octagon’s Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation.
Sirius XM channels: classic rock, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, New Wave, Blues, alternated with Fox News channel for comic relief. NPR occasionally, along with some local FM rock stations depending on where I am.
I listen to satellite radio. Usually Faction Talk (not news, unless funny/stupid news) or music, usually metal/rock channels, though sometimes it’s EDM.
Music CDs that I burn myself. Very eclectic tastes – everything from Hawaiian music from 1940’s record albums to contemporary MP3s from Amazon.
