What do you guys think about Iran?

Come on Anahita, you come up with this fiery response, then when you are given an answer, you act as an “embedded journalist” giving a bunch of sentences that I can read in the Times Magazine, or you give a bunch of cites which are irrelevant to the topic.

What I said (to re-iterate) was that Iran needs Evolution, rather than another Revolution. And you did not address yourself to that. All we heard from you was a reportage of your telephone conversation with some of your cousins in Tehran who all they dream of is a Green Card to get to the US.

The issue of OP is what is happening in Iran, not what is happening to few cousins of yours in Tehran University. The issue is whether Iranian masses (not necessary your cousins within telephone reach) are at.

Please answer the mail, namely, what Iran needs is evolution, not another revolution.

As someone who’s too ignorant to “know what game those egocentric fuckers were up to”, could you please explain?

I would gladly reply to your question if you replace your phrase “who’s too ignorant” with “who has studied the issue, and expresses a view backed with credible references who claims”.

Are you saying that Gary is someone who has studied the issue, and expresses a view backed with credible references who claims?

Or did you misconstrue his post?

The “too ignorant” phrase is referring to himself, not you, Wake up.

A bit sensitive, are we?

Oddly enough, I don’t think that GK’s first clause was talking about you. I believe that the "As someone who’s too ignorant to “know what game those egocentric fuckers were up to,” part was in reference to himself. And the “could you please explain?” was addressed to you.

Maybe it’d’ve been more clear if GK’d said:

(For or To) someone who’s too ignorant to “know what game those egocentric fuckers were up to”, could you please explain?

Of course I could be wrong. Maybe GK was asking for an explanation from someone who was ignorant rather for someone who was ignorant.

Hey, Anahita - Wake up call knows your cousins in Tehran! Wow, small world…

Or maybe not…

IIRC, if you’re a citizen, you don’t need a green card.

I refuse to discuss this issue with someone who has such obvious disdain for the people on the ground, living out his armchair-polictical-science fantasies.

As I recall, the OP asked, “What do you think about Iran?” and that is what I answered, personal involvement notwithstanding.

I was just asking you for a cite about machetes. I know hundreds more Iranians than you’ll ever know and I’ve never heard of it.

What is irrelevant about Reza Pahlavi’s aims to regain the monarchy?

So, you want ‘insider’ information, but not what the students at Tehran University are thinking/doing/planning? But you don’t want mainstream news either?

What exactly do you wish to know? My personal opinion?

Your OP title reads like an IMHO thread. Please refocus your question and I’ll be happy to answer, if I can tear myself away from the US Immigration Services on-line Green Card Lotto.

Funny old world. I never knew that I had studied the issue, or that I expressed a view backed with credible issues, or that I’d claimed to “know what game those egocentric fuckers were up to”. Sweet lord, senility must be upon me already!

Anyway, I would still be very grateful if you could please explain “what game those egocentric fuckers were up to”?

What do I think about Iran?
As a woman, I’d be able to drive, work, attend third level education and have access to birth control.
Better than some other middle eastern countries.

OK. I will answer below. But please note that this argument is off-topic to the OP. If you’d like to continue talking about the game, I suggest you initiate a new post on the subject so that we do not hijack this thread.

By “what game those egocentric fuckers were up to” I meant “the shop” created by the self-righteous, hiding behind an illusive 3rd party, call it God or Allah, to influence and manipulate others for their own gain, self-aggrandizement, fame, control, power and domination over others. A marketing ploy - if you will.

Examples abound:

From Bible: John 14:6-7
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father , but by me.

From Quran: Section 33:36
If anyone disobeys God and His Apostle. he is indeed on a clearly wrong path." This is supposedly the last of the series of God’s messages by direct revelation from her to Mohammad.

In the book “Satanic Verses”, Rushdie appears to make out Mohammad to be a small-time imposter, but there is no question that Ayatollah Khomeini did mobalize the masses of ignorant Iranians behind his shop by promotion of his book “Valayete Faghih”. Subsequently, he also issued an edict and a death sentence against Rushdie, which remains in force even today.

I hope it is clear what game an egocentric fucker (like “Imam” Khomeini) and his followers have been up to.
