Rsat3acr, my reference about you was in regard to your statement “based on topic, text and join date could this be trolling?” A more mature statement would be to ask me if it was “trolling” whatever that is. Also, I feel it was your statement that set off the rest. Although now that I think of it your statement “FWIW I’m all for topless women” does seem a little juvenile. Further, you continue to be wrong when you write “I do think it is spam or trolling” and I feel that jumping to that conclusion is juvenile.

Furious, my “spiel” was not long and I do not expect people to mock and reject me on a board that claims to be “Fighting Ignorance.” Also, Topfreedom is not a fake political movement and to me the use of the word “boobies” is juvenile. I am not affiliated with any organized political group, I’m a Republican. Sorry I couldn’t resist this play on a quote by Will Rogers. Actual I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican.

Elbows, I am disappointed that you would tell me how to feel. Also, I have no bubble and in New York City women are starting to go topfree on the streets and in the parks.

Let’s cut out calling people juvenile in this thread.
Here at the SDMB, we have certain rules and it can be more heavily moderated than your average message board. One rule is no calling names or insulting outside of the forum “The BBQ Pit”, so don’t attack those whom may disagree with you unless you’re in that forum.

Topfreedom refers to a movement that seeks to change laws and social perceptions so that women would be able to publicly expose their areolas and nipples in any place that a man can.

Are there places where woman can expose their areolas, but not their nipples, or vice versa?

While I agree that it’s unfair to slut-shame women for wanting to go topless (and despite the OP I think “topfree” is a ridiculous neologism along the lines of “womyn”) in situations where men can, I also think that most of Western society - and most certainly the US - is not yet in a place where this can occur in a non-disruptive manner. Which doesn’t mean that women can’t do it; only that quite a lot of the population is going to react in a distinctly unconstructive manner if they do, and they should expect that without getting huffy.

The SDMB is a long established community. As such, a culture has evolved, complete with behavioral norms. I stand by my assertion that your inagural post is akin to running into the neighborhood bar and waving around a petition for an obscure cause, then getting upset that people aren’t that interested.

Idle Thoughts, in that quote I was referring to people’s statements and I continue to stand by what I wrote. For example is writing that “and despite the OP I think that “topfree” is a ridiculous neologism . . .” insulting to me since I used the word “topfree.” Also, where were you when people were basically calling me a liar? And look at the statement by Half Man Half Wit, isn’t that insulting by making fun of what I wrote. I was and am very angry about how I was treated on this board. I still expect apologies.

Okay, I’m shutting this topic down for many reasons, the main one being the TOS says ..

Do not post … messages primarily intended to promote a cause, venture, organization, event (except Straight Dope-related events), website, or other entity or activity, whether or not money is involved.

..which this topic seems a prime example of, even down to the name you registered with.

Asking about what people think of something is one thing (and allowed here). Starting a topic asking what posters think and then arguing against them, calling them names, and demanding apologizes is not.

If you wish to do the former, feel free. If you do the latter again, the topic will be closed again and you will be warned.
