What do you think about?

What strange stuff do all you people think about?

This may sound like the Matrix, but I have been thinking about this since I was a small child. Sometimes, when I’m bored, I imagine that the entire world is a lie. History is a lie, the present is a lie. The ‘world’ is only twenty or so years old, and everything before then and leading up until then is a lie, also. The purpose of this craft, I have no idea. But nothing that they say happened, happened. Everyone that is under a certain age is enveloped in the hoax, everyone over a certain age is helping perpetuate it, either through their own will, or unknowingly.

Secondly, human neither evolved, nor were created, at least, not on this planet. We are the spawn of an intergalactic race, which commuted here a few thousands of years ago, to make a colony. Somehow, we lost our technology, and history was slowly forgotten. We are the long lost children of an ancient race. One day, when we return to the stars, we will find our kin, a race of amazing science and technology, a race nearly as old as time itself. If we only knew.

Or, this is all the Truman show. Just for me.

Maybe, we weren’t the lost colonizers of an ancient civilization, but the pests, the rodents and city rats of a greater race. There are strains of us throughout the galaxy, as we would disembark and set up shop where ever they would dock.

These are only a few of the psychotic thoughts that perpetuate in the madness of my mind.

Anyone else think about crazy things like these sometimes?

We are the children of the Eighties. We are not the first “lost generation” nor today’s lost generation; in fact, we think we know just where we stand - or are discovering it as we speak.

No.

Yes, it would be nice to think that we aren’t the ones responsible for all this. I’m afraid though that you’re living your life and not someone else’s experiment.

But then again, who am I to shatter your daydreams.

I daydream that all women can read my mind, and that they use that knowledge to embarrass me.

I could be walking down the street, all alone, and feel the need to belch. As soon as I proffer a fine rendition of a bullfrog in heat, a woman will step out from behind a shrub or something. And if I’m ever alone on a desert island, all I’ll have to do is fart, and a woman will step out from behind the sand dunes.

I daydream…about throttling you, Homer.
Now come over here; sit on Uncle Danny’s lap, there’s a good boy; and put your little neck right between these two hands…

That really could be to your advantage some day Rysdad.

I opened the door, and look who I found. Damn I’m good

My first “real” job was in the biostatistics dept of a pharmaceutical company. One can’t spend much time in an environment like that without wondering whethere humans are merely the “lab rats” for some superior species.

Homer:

I’ve thought about those things, and still do every now and then. Not as in “It must be, life is so empty without” like some people seem to be implying, but as in “how would we know, what would you check?”

It’s a neat idea.

My answers are, for the three questions…

  1. We’d never know, the problem doesn’t state how accurate the simulation is, if it’s perfectly accurate, then the fossils and such would be exactly where they would be if the world was billions of years old, etc, so we can’t tell.

  2. Doubtful, because we fit into this world fairly well. It’s hard to see how that could be reconciled with being an alien (to Earth) race, unless you think DNA is a universal, etc…

  3. Like #1, this depends on the resources spent in keeping you in the dark. If you assume a global conspiracy, this could be true. Otherwise, do something odd, like roll dice or draw cards for a shuffled deck, to determine your actions, such as choosing a strange city to visit, and hop on a commuter flight to there with no delay. If your life appears consistent, then you probably aren’t in an artificial reality like on the Truman Show…

It’s a good exercise in critical thinking, and problem solving.

When I was younger and still a virgin with healthy masturbatory habits, I used to wonder: What if women really have triangle-shaped nipples, and every picture and porno movie I’d ever seen was doctored and every description of a woman’s I have ever heard is a lie, a big, cruel joke kept secret from all the virgins of the world for the simple purpose of humiliating the non-alpha males even furthur to the point where once they finally see a tit, they freak out, and the woman they’re with will know that this guy is a virgin, and she will go home, and he will NOT get laid, and he will NEVER get laid, and he just blew the only chance he ever had in his life to get laid, and now he has no recourse but to become an accountant and take an involuntary vow of celibacy for the rest of his natural life.

DAMN, that’s a long sentence!

–puff “feeling a bit nutty tonight” ington

Puffington, I hope you meant conical instead of triangular. That presented a bizarre image until I realized what you probably ment. You probably imprinted on the same '60s issues of Playboy that I was but I still knew what real titties looked like.

It’s your fault that I have no one to blame but myself.

No, see, it’s not that I actually considered triangular tits as a likely possibility. It had just occured to me as a young teen, that since I had never seen an actual full-grown breast in the flesh, that it was entirely possible that I had been put on. Yeah I’d seen porno movies, but it’s possible to alter them.

I remember once I saved up all my lunch money and sent 25 one dollar bills through the mail to buy a porno movie. Had it sent to a friend’s house since he usually got to the mailbox before his mom did. ‘Where the Boys Aren’t 5’ was the title of the movie. Quite a fine flick as I remember!
