What do you think of KFC's cole slaw?

It’s too sweet and runny. Good cole slaw shouldn’t drip like that when you pick up a bite with a fork.

I go to KFC FOR the coleslaw. The chicken and other vittles are adequate at best.

I sometimes just order sides (& a drink), as I can take or leave their various chicken offerings. Of the sides, Coleslaw, Mash Potatoes & Gravey, Corn on the Cob, and Mac & Cheese I like, Green beans are meh, and the rice I haven’t had.
So, vote me in favor of the Coleslaw, it’s usually better than the average Long Island Deli-style cole-slaw.

Ahem - I believe this statement is patently false - recently I treated my 81 year old mom to KFC (since that’s the kind of big spender I am) - she often eats without her dentures (since they sometimes hurt her to eat with them) - she said she had trouble eating the coleslaw - so your premise has been tested, and found lacking. She did like the mash potatoes, though.
(Yes, she did use a knife & fork to cut up the pieces of chicken)

It’s pretty good for fast food, but I’ve definitely had better. Then again, I’ve also had far, far worse.

KFC is the only place I’ve yet to find whose coleslaw doesn’t include pepper and other odd little spices. Of course, I’ve got about ten sweet teeth, so anything overly sweet appeals to me.

One of the great Mysteries of the Universe? Is KFC’s coleslaw the same as Long John Silver’s coleslaw? They are all part of that same PepsiCo YUM glomeration?

Because I like LJS’s Coleslaw but don’t like KFC’s coleslaw nearly as much?

If you go to one of those 2 in 1 KFC/LJS is the coleslaw all the same?

I’ve noticed that KFC’s coleslaw has an almost “irradiated” shade of green to it. Having made coleslaw at home, I can’t say I much prefer it, but it’s definitely better than their potato salad. Yeech.

They are part of the same corporation, but Yum! Brands is independent of Pepsi. They were a spin-off, then became their own corporation. So it wouldn’t surprise me if the slaw is the same, especially in the combination KFC/LJS restaurants.

It’s far far far far too sweet. My favorite cole slaw is a recipe my mom futzed around with for a while, that’s tangy and sour and yummy without the sweetness, and with about 1/10 of the actual sauce on the veggies. KFC’s slaw is swimming in a sauce that mimics southern sweet tea (or sweetea, as the case may be).

Actually, I’m of the opposite take. It would kinda surprise me if they were the same, because these mega fast food corporations go to great lengths developing very specific flavor formulas to complement their menu items. They have armies of food scientists, after all, and coleslaw for 11 herbs and spice fried chicken and tartar sauced beer battered whitefish (cod) have much different flavor profiles that a coleslaw would assumed be formulated to compliment.

Or maybe, that’s why I like LJS’s Coleslaw better than KFC’s? Because KFC’s coleslaw is maybe a better match to fish and chips with tartar sauce and malt vinegar than fried chicken?

LJS is a plain old fast food joint? I’ve seen commercials but never the actual place. I always assumed they were some kind of low-end Applebees for seafood.

Yes, they are pretty much like the KFC of the Fish and Chips World. Ironic, no? Not even on the same wavelength as Applebee’s… and believe it or not, they have truly excellent fish and chips (stipulated that they are fresh from the fryer.). But quality certainly does vary from store to store, that’s one thing I’ve noticed about YUM Restaurants, they vary very wildly in Quality Control standards within the chain. Same Food, different standards, the Colonel would be spinning in his grave.

Rarely eat at KFC. My wife, however, loves their cole slaw. I don’t eat it, so I can’t evaluate. I do think their biscuits and mashed potatoes are okay. Chicken, meh.

However, there was a time, before KFC and Long John Silver’s were conglomerated, that both chains were independent, and they were sort of sit-down restaurants that the whole family would go to for a Friday or Sunday Dinner and be innocently and genuinely satisfied with a very high quality and affordable Chicken or Fish Dinner. Of Course now, they are all just sort of the same “clone-glomerate” restaurants and concentrate much of their business strategy on Drive-Thru and crossover marketing , and as I mentioned, the quality control varies wildly. Just a bad, bad, business model. (Successful business model maybe, but everything suffers.)

KFC’s cole slaw (like their poutine) is a shallow mockery the genuine article.

So bland. So, so bland.

I find it too mushy and wet. I seem to be getting pickier in my old age because I used to eat all their “salads” and now none of them have any appeal. I have never liked any kind of macaroni salad, I am very particular about potato salad these days (I don’t like an overwhelming vinegar taste), and non-homemade coleslaw is just icky. I don’t like their fries, but drown them in gravy and they’re just fine.

oops

I like KFC coleslaw, probably because of the memories associated with it. It was the first 'slaw that I ever had. My mother used to bring KFC home as a “special treat” when I was growing up. (It was likely a special treat for her because it meant she didn’t have to cook!)

But to answer the question, I like it OK. I agree it is too milky, sweet, and fine for my preference. The School Cafeteria made a good coleslaw. Vinegar, Sugar, and medium fine grated cabbage and carrots. My Family slaw is more of a creamier slaw, served coarse, and fresh, the secret is just doctored Marzzeti Slaw dressing.
