What do you think of KFC's cole slaw?

I find I don’t like cole slaw in general, but I enjoy KFC’s cole slaw.

It’s meh. All coldslaw is meh: a sour dish that balances the fatty goodness of some other dish and restores important taste balance. See: pickles, sauerkraut, etc.

It’s not terrible, but it’s not the style I prefer (I like the more sour mayonnaise-less varieties myself, or mustard-based ones.) But I’ll eat any kind of coleslaw pretty much. I like most anything sour or pickled.

Coleslaw in general might seem light a healthy dish, but the way most fast food places prepare it (including Pollo Loco), it usually has a high percentage of calories from fat.

I’m a fan. Coleslaw in general is pretty hit or miss and it’s difficult to get the right proportions of sweet-sour, chunky-fine and wet-dry. KFC errs on the too sweet, too wet and too fine side, but those are the directions which seem to be the safer ways to miss. Some people who hate coleslaw probably like it this way since the bitter cabbage and sour sauces can be an acquired tastes and by making it the way they do it offends fewer palettes.

In any case, the cool, sweet, wet, creaminess of the coleslaw really works with the mildly spicy and greasy fried chicken. Now I want some KFC chicken, mashed taters and gravy and slaw.

This has been debated for years, but for me (and many others) KFC has perhaps the best coleslaw on the market.
You can Google the recipe.

KFC has some locations in Germany, and I know that even Berliners (who know their coleslaw!!!) go there to buy it - sometimes not even bothering to get chicken - just the slaw!

I love it. Most coleslaw I’ve eaten is pretty bland, but I could eat KFC slaw any time of the day–even for breakfast!

If I had a son, I would name him Cole because of KFC. It’s that good.

My preferred cole slaw is asian-style: no mayonnaise, very crisp cabbage, whole mustard seeds, sesame oil, etc. The more mayonnaise, the less I’ll like it.

As far as coleslaw goes, I like theirs. We get it now instead of making it at Thanksgiving (the only time we eat it.)

It’s almost food-like. (Hasn’t anybody ever had real coleslaw?)

I’m the only one who thinks it feels pre-chewed? As if somebody wanted to feed it to a baby or an octogenerian who can’t afford dentures?

Couple this with the fact that my husband makes the best dang homemade coleslaw ever, I can tell the difference between a cabbage attacked by a lawnmower covered in pepper and real coleslaw.

I love slaw, and make several different kinds, but for mass market slaw, KFC’s is the best by far.

I like it, but I like mine better. Try Marie’s coleslaw dressing! I add a chopped apple to a bag of shredded coleslaw mix.

A++++++++++++++++ Would Eat Again!!!

KFC slaw used to be good, but now, it’s much blander and soupier than I remember.

Like Dolores, I prefer to whirl up my own with a bottle of Marie’s dressing.

In general, KFC’s quality has plummeted in recent years.

It’s the one thing at KFC the remains constant in quality. My notoriously picky teenage daughter will eat it. So a thumbs up from me.

I like it. It could use some celery seeds though.

C+ As far as cole slaw goes it is passable, unlike most of the crap that is out there. The secret family recipe is A+ when the cabbage is just right. It’s a mayo version.

Is it just me, or does it have a bit of a horseradish flavour to it? I like that in coleslaw.
