What do you think of this tie?

If I had that tie, I’d hang myself with it.

Ugly. Especially at that price.

I might buy it for novelty value at a charity shop (Thrift Store) but it would have to be even more horrid to consider, just so everyone knew I was joking.

It’s one bad tie that appears to be made of three good ones.

That tie makes me feel poor and angry.

It was the #1 choice of aborted fetuses for a Father’s Day gift.

These are simply awesome! I wish I was a guy so I could wear a tie just like these!

I like it and I would pair it with a medium to dark tan shirt, depending on your skin tone. The darker skin, the yellower the shirt. If you like it, get it and ignore what other people say. If you don’t like it, don’t expect to grow to like it because others say it’s a cool tie and you should have it. I think that half the people sagging their pants know how dumb it looks but feel trapped because everyone around them says it’s what they’re supposed to wear.

ETA: Shirley, I think Diane Keaton has proved that some women look just as good if not better than men in ties! Mayhap you will be one of those women?

Ugly as hell, and not worth the price.

For that much money you could buy four really awesome ones.

I’ll wear it if you want to pay me $125. I’ll even send you pictures of my students mocking me.

I think it would look good with the right outfit, but if you have to ask, then you probably don’t have the right outfit.

I think it’s kind of ugly, but I don’t think $125 is expensive.

What do you people think that real silk ties cost nowadays?

About $35?
Cite.

Yes, but those are Jerry Garcia ties, not known for their style or construction. A decent silk tie that will last more than two or three wearings will run anywhere between $50 and $600 depending on workmanship and provenance. $35 can get you a “silk tie” but it’s going to be the lowest grade of silk floss that’s made. The higher the price the finer the silk.

That’s still an ugly ass tie in the OP though.

Now THOSE are more like it!

Hate it.

Much prefer:

But while I do like a lot of J. Crew clothes for women and my boyfriend has bought a cute shirt there even, a lot of their stuff is douchebag preppy. Great example, the tie in the OP. It’s their ugliest tie (well and those weird knit ones too) and it’s the most expensive. The tie’s sole purpose is to make you look like a pretentious prep-school asshole.

Nonsense. I have ten year old silk ties that still look new and cost substantially under $35 at the time.

To answer the OP- what FriarTed said.

I’m not saying $125 is the bottom of the line for silk ties.

But, $125 is a Nordstrom tie. It’s not a Hecht’s tie.

But, you’re not finding many $125 ties at Nieman Marcus, either.

Ties for guys who dress well are going to be well over $100. You can find a tie to wear with that suit that your wear to a wedding or funeral every 3 years for $50. I wouldn’t wear it to a job interview where I was asking for a salary in excess of a teacher’s salary, though. You’re not a lawyer meeting with a client wearing a $50 “silk” tie.

The dragonfly pattern would be fairly cool on its own, but I dislike the patchwork effect.

Also, is that a sunbathing woman as the other “critter”?

I don’t like things that look like patchwork. Well, except actual quilts, that is.
