What do you tip a pizza guy?

Delivery driver girl reporting in.

Two dollars is a good tip, whether it be 1 pizza or 2.

Three bucks will make me smile.

Five bucks will make me ask you if your are sure you want to tip me that much.

5+ will give me a huge smile and an enthusiastic thanks. I will also remember to deliver your pizza first next time I come around. It might also make me throw in “extras” on your order such as a free soda.

No tipping makes me less enthusiastic about coming to your house, and will make me try to leave your place as quickly as possible so I can get back to the store to take a delivery that perhaps will tip.

Asking for your 15 cents back will make me remember you and avoid your delivery. This goes for change only though. I don’t care if you want your dollars back, its the small change that irritates me.

Delivery driving is an easy job. But certain things make it suck sometimes. Trains, weather, rude customers. Please remember this.

Oh and the delivery charge thing. Ugh. The company I work for charges 2 WHOLE dollars for delivery. We see 75 cents of that. A LOT of people assume we’re getting the 2 bucks and don’t tip. I hate that.

But tipping is funny to me. I’ve delivered to people who live 2 blocks from our pizza place and have gotten big tips. I’ve also delivered to people who live 3 miles away and don’t tip.

All in all tips are good. They fill up my gas tank and help me keep up with the wear and tear of my car.

Money added into a check doesn’t affect me but all pizza places are different.

I was told that tips on credit card slips @ Dominos are not immediately given to the driver. They are added onto their paychecks.

I don’t order pizza a lot, but I do order in other food occasionally. Last night I treated myself to Indian (yes, I can order in Indian - truly, the height of civilization). The bill came to $14 and I tipped the guy $3. I want to have a reputation as a good tipper cause I like this restaurant. Also, I just moved and I want them to remember me and I realize I’m the same person who was a good tipper at my old address. I do tip more when it’s snowing or very very cold.

Ahh! Well, that’s an interesting difference. In the US, there is pretty much always a line for “Tip” on the credit card signature slip for any industry in which tipping might be expected (in my experience). You just add the tip and write in a new total on the next line.

$5 rain or shine. More if the delivery person is older (30’s on up) because I assume that they lost their job and are trying to make ends meet between jobs.
