What do you use your PDA for?

Like **tschild[\b], I use my Palm Tungsten T3 for it’s scheduling and contact management capabilities, but I also use it for many more things.

It is my alarm clock. Without it I would never be up on time in the morning.

It is also my 45,000 word Spanish-Enghlish Dictionary that can fit in my pocket when I travel.

I use the voice memo function on it to record important information that I can’t write down all that fast.

I use the memo program consistantly to store and quickly lookup personal and work information.

I also have programs that I use regularly that [ul]
[li]do unit conversions effortlessly [/li][li]help my wife and I with natural family planning[/li][li]view short video files[/li][li]listen to digital music[/li][li]read books that I would otherwise never read[/li][li]carry an unlimited number of pictures with me (drastically reducing the size of my wallet)[/li][/ul]

I play 1942 (the original arcade game) and Ultima Underworld on my HP Journada and listen to MP3s…oh yeah, it does work to, I just don’t remember what

EZ, I need this program. What’s it’s name?

There are a couple good ones, all available at www.freewarepalm.com.

I’m using this one because it has the cleanest interface and reports time just how I need it.

I also used punchclock for a while, and it had a many more options for storing data according to client, allowing for subcategories etc… But it’s interface wasn’t as clean and it was more complicated than what I needed. Still, it’s worth a look.

This one got good reviews, but I never tried it:

These are all free, too! And they’re handy enough that I’d spend money on 'em, easy! Once you get your jobs into the program, you just have to tap “in” next to the project name and you’re in business. At the end of the week, have it show you the totals and you’re in business.

Good luck!

I have pretty much decided on a Sony Clie PEG-TJ37, anyone have experience with that model? Newegg is having a weekend sale (Retail $299, Newegg has them for $239).

See the TJ37 review at brighthand.com. And www.cliesource.com is a good message board for all things CLIE-related.

Another Palm-PDA resource on the web is PDA247.com .

My PDA has built in GPS and voice navigation, and I use that feature a lot.
The datebook and phone book are handy to have away from the office.

I use my Palm Tungsten E for:

calendar
task list
ebooks
picture storage
word/excel editing
games (not much, but some)
shopping list (cool freeware app)
world clock/alarm

And I also have Pocket Quicken, which interfaces nicely with the version of Quicken on my laptop.

I use my Tungsten T3 for:

-Alarm clock
-World time clock - City Time
-Address book
-Games (main ones are Snails and Warfare Incorporated)
-Palmreader Pro for eBooks (If I can find a book this way it is the way I want to read it. Nice bright backlit screen. Much better than paper books.) I have about 20 books, or about 10,000pages equivalent in paperbacks on it right now.
-Avantgo for news
-my travel itineraries (downloaded to Avantgo from Sabre Virtually There)
-Splash Wallet which contains Spash ID, a 256K Blowfish encrypted program that I store all my passwords and logins including credit card and account info.
-Spash photo - allows me to show photos on my T3. I have about a 1000 photos on it now.
-Memos - for long term notes
-Notepad - for quick notes.
-I even have a neat little program that allows me to use my Palm as a remote control device for TV’s, etc (dratted thing doesn’t work with my Marantz receiver, though)! If someone knows a device that will boost an IR signal I’d like to know about it.
All that and I still have 64MB left on my 128MB SDD memory add-on card.

I have a Tungsten T3
I use it for everything that can be written down
calendar, notes, games, shopping, lists, ebooks
I put driving directions in with an address, that way they are together in one place
I take notes on it in meetings, it is almost as fast as writing on paper once you get used to it.
I have many many freeware games.
I keep several different shopping lists
cd’s, dvd’s, things to watch for for friends, groceries
I keep my kids clothes sizes and preferences on it.
I keep an up to date allergy list
I download word or excell files that I need to review or update to it also
several e books at a time, so I always have a choice in what to read.
and the ir remote
cycles of the moon (lets me know when callers at work will be difficult)
I use the task list to keep track of what I need to do
… and of course Palma Sutra
I can go on, but you get the idea

No mp3s on mine, loads of ebooks, phone numbers, calendar stuff, glucowatch to track my glucose data, and if i ned to take more than a few notes, I have the typwriter keyboard for it=)

Absolute lifesaver on waiting rooms, and transits on airlines/trains when I do the boston/frankfurt shuffle=)

Oh, me too! Me too!! I currently have about 12 ebooks on my Zire 71. Of course, I’m getting ready to go on vacation, and I want to have some options! I use it to read in bed, because I can turn out the lights and read and when I doze off, 2 minutes later, the Zire shuts off. Perfect.

I also use the memo pad to keep notes (quotations, notes to myself, things I want to save.) I keep appointments (including birthdays and anniversaries) in it. I keep addresses (including Christmas card lists). I use the to-do list to remind me of things I want to do, and I occasionally play a solitaire game on it. And with the Zire 71, I can take pictures, or look at pictures I’ve already taken.

I loves me some Zire71. And now there’s a Zire 72 out, with more memory and an easier-to-use camera. The camera’s not essential, but it’s kinda neat to have sometimes.

Are you me from some past alternate universe? I’ve had a TJ37 for about 6 weeks, and coincidentally I also use a Moto V66 cell phone.

Anyway, since you have Sony Memory Sticks you oculd use already, I think for you this is a good choice. Camera takes photos right to the inerted stick, MP3s play off the inserted stick, and with its 802.11b WiFi to interface to home/office networks, life is good.

And I use it for everything.

I’ll field your specific product questions  I’ve owned & used a Palm m100, a Handspring Visor Platinum w/ phone, and a Sony Clie N610.
