What does the future for electric vehicles look like now?

I didn’t want to hijack the thread about ev plans so I thought I’d take my questions here.
A-holes 1 and 2 Mssrs Trump and Musk’s unholy alliance confuses me; aren’t they at cross purposes? Will the entire market for evs tank, or just ones that aren’t Tesla? Will charging stations keep being manufactured / installed? I had hopes of purchasing an ev in the not too distant future but I’d combat crawl the length of I-5 before I’d put a cent in A-hole 2’s pocket.

The move to EVs represents a market change that’s bigger than the American auto industry. There are incentives along the way that might come and go with political times but not in a way that will derail the end result.

I think vaccines are fair to compare to EVs. They are cheap & effective and are overall popular but have some loud critics and a lot of suggestible onlookers. The gov could make some easier or harder to get but not really ban them now.

Or guns, I suppose.

Electric vehicles are going to be built by someone somewhere. The question is whether that’s in the United States, Europe, Japan or China. With Trump’s protectionist policies, I expect he would favor supporting domestic production.

Roll back of efficiency standards, increased tariffs.Efforts to expand charging network may survive.

Elmo donated $120 mill to Cheeto. You think he did that out of the kindness of his heart? I expect there will be new laws &/or subsidies for EVs to come out of that.
Tesla recently became the defacto charging standard for all vehicles as the other automakers agreed to use their charging plugs. How much you wanna bet there’s a gub’mint subsidy to build lots of new charging stations.
