So not having one to hand I’m not sure what that means exactly. I don’t know anyone with a British biometric passport and even if I did, I need to get a cite off the web for a bit of an essay I’m writing.
My google-fu seems weak somehow, all I’m getting are claims that the data held is too much or that the government won’t reveal what’s really on it  that or the standard “information about the passport holder.”
Details on page 31 are merely name, DoB, place of birth, passport expiry date and passport number, issuing passport office, photograph, and signature. ETA: the chip, with its little copper antennae, is laminated to the back of this page.
There are booths at major airports to reassure holders that no other data is taken - you can sweep your passport and see what the immigration officials see (allegedly ;)).
My only question is, why on earth are they called “biometric”?
I should add that, unless they dusted my application form for fingerprints or DNA, or scanned my iris when I was paying for the renewal, there’s no chance of them having any “biometric” data on the passport.
I think your photo constitutes the biometric data, the UK isn’t set for fingerprints just yet.
Thanks for the info jjimm, I can put that down at least while cite hunting. I’m set to abuse my position as a joint British/Irish citizen and get the good old cheapo Irish passport, Dad’s eyeing us all up for holidays methinks, so I’ve no idea what you get from the Passport office in the UK.
