in honor of my dad
Mine means that I am not to be mistaken for the great Gatsby.
Get rid of that - in the middle there.
Or hit reply and choose from over there <~~~~~~~~
It doesn’t get any more tenuous than this…
I was once in a band (well, I’m in a band now but this was a different band) that was almost called Buns 2000 - meaningless, but it sounded good at the time. When I told a certain dude who was a bit of an icon of the local rock scene that this new band I was in was gonna be called Buns 2000, he immediately responded that this wasn’t any good and we should go with Buns 3000. He was serious. This was a good 7 years before the year 2000, but maybe he thought we’d be together for 7 years. Boy, was he wrong. We ended up being called Baked which I always thought was a terrible band name (especially as people invariably heard it as Bait - even worse) but it was probably apt as 3 of the 4 of us were stoners. Yes, I was one of the 3.
I just liked the juxtaposition of the names “Larry” and “Borgia.”
One sounding like your typical dude next door, the other synonymous with Rennaisance intrigue and treachery.
It seemed funny at the time.
I’m a fan of women’s basketball, and pne of my favorite players is Kate Starbird. I’m partly of German ancestry, so I simply translated the component parts of her surname (star= stern, bird= vogel) into German. Had I opted to pay tribute to my Czech heritage, you’d have been “treated” to the decidedly unwieldy Hvezdaptak instead…
The “mr” part has a dual function. It can be read as “mister” and it’s also my initials. As to the “klutz” portion, well…
Let’s just say my biggest challenge when working as a framer in college was not bleeding on other people’s artwork.
Literally means Beauty of Italy. Really the grammar isn’t perfect but Bella and Della RHYME.
Oops, I thought I hadn’t posted in this thread before. Never mind.
Thanks for clarifying.
Well if i’m posting something here I’m at work, if I’m posting I’m not actually doing much work so it can’t be “worksheapsatwork” even though when I’m working i actually work pretty hard but that would then be “workshardatworksometimes” but most of the time I’m at work i just simple cruise along. “Cruisesatwork” sounds like I’m out trying to pick up hookers but there are none around work so i just have to do my work. “Slacksofatwork” was also an option but I really don’t slack off theat much, while I’m at work. “Lurksfromwork” implies that i actually attempt not to make this to much of a habit, from work, but then “fulloshit” could be interchangable with the “…work” name.
That clear as mud?
The name I use here is the name of my favorite character that I play/made on Everquest . A Vah Shir beastlord. (7 to 8 foot tall bi-pedal feline creature, who is a combination of monk/shaman. She casts spells and fights martial arts style. She summons a “warder” to fight by her side, in her case a tiger.)
The first name was randomly generated by the game believe it or not, the second I chose when my character reached level 20 because she’d fought, killed, and been killed by an awful lot of critters with claws. There’s a double meaning to it, her claws are the bane of evil doers, and she is the bane of Clawed Ones.
Here are some pictures of her, hopefully you will be able to see them without signing up for an Imagestation account. (Though they offer free image hosting, the accounts are free too.) She’s wearing shades of purple, but for some reaon this is hard capture in screenshots. Screenshots always seem to be dimmer than the image you see while playing the game.
Baldwin is the Latinized name of the teenaged leper king of Jerusalem, in the years shortly before the disaster at the Horns of Hattin in 1179. (Disaster from the Crusader viewpoint; victory from the Muslem viewpoint.) That boy had a tough row to hoe.

Milady, please tell me you wear that bodice correctly, and not in the tits-on-a-tray style. I’m sure you’re stunning. I love female fighters, myself. Where do you hail from? I play in the Barony of the South Downs, Kingdom of Meridies (Atlanta, Georgia). As I’m sure you’re aware, there are a number of SCA people on the SDMB.
