Putin has shown no desire to expand “Russian hegemony”. If anything he has been forced into retreat since he has lost his puppet in Ukraine. NATO has been expanding ever closer to Russia.
What do you call the annexation of Crimea and the occupation of eastern Ukraine if not “expanding Russian hegemony”?
It certainly is true though that no country bordering Russia wants to be under Russian domination, in fact the opposite is true. Poland is very happy to host American soldiers. I’d say it would be fair to call that “welcoming American hegemony”.
