What exactly does bad gas [gas that has sat for a while] do to an older vehicle?

Chevy and Dodge. The only one I had other than those was a piece of shit AMC. My company had only Fords, and my how I learned to loathe them…

Well so far so good. The truck is running well and I am about to go fill the tank and add some additive so any lingering water in the lines or gunk is taken care of. But so far, so good!

I buy alot of cars from munincipalites all over the southwestern US…I deal with rotten gas in a daily basis…
If you have alchohol in your gas…it is an additive that is made from corn sugar…when it gets old and the alchohol in the additive had a chance to evaporate away , it leaves a rotten brownish color toyour gas…kind of a tea look. This …when burnt in your cylinders can not only make your engine pop, ping, run rough and have an uunbelievable loss of power but it will quickly gunk up your valves to the point that they will stick in place as the pistons come up and bend them. I have had this happen in a matter of ten miles. The only way to prevent this is to drain your tank and change your filter and blow out your lines …BEFORE you start the car.

See (my) post #15.
