Not sure if this has been done before, but I’m curious. For me, it would probably be the Xenosaga universe. It would be difficult for me to explain why, but anyone who’s played the Xenosaga series would understand.
If not that, then probably the Star Trek:TNG universe. I’d kill for a holodeck!
Definitely Oz. I’d like to settle down in Munchkin Land and live the quiet life of a Creampuff farmer with General Jinjur.
I would send out for cold beer, and then I would tell her things – things that I never told to anyone – things that are locked deep in here – and as I talked to her I would want her to hold out her soft white hand and say “Poor thing, poor poor thing.”
Probably Star Trek is your general default answer—utopian society, matter replicators, easy holodeck access.
After that…
The Ghost in the Shell universe doesn’t seem too bad. (Except for the brain hacking and two more world wars and the constant stark reminders that natural human society is operating way outside it’s design parameters, and is likely doomed to obsolescence and extinction. At best.) On the plus side, medical science has nearly reached it’s Zenith, androids and AIs are commonplace, and you’ve got to figure that the video games of the time absolutely rock.
'Might end up as Soylent Green or get “disappeared” by an Evil Military-Industrial-Entertainment conspiracy…but hey, at least I can probably build a working robot sidekick* in my garage before I go.
Or maybe I’d just get Cyberbrain Autism and loose myself in the incomparable information rush of Nerdvana. Hey, I’d still win.
*(A “sidekick”…yeah. Sure. That’s the ticket.)
I’d also be one of those people the doctors have no sympathy for according to that chick in Bulletteer. >_> I wouldn’t have to be worried about getting caught in the crossfire between Superman and Lex Luthor…best case, I’d be up there beside Supes, worst case I’d get myself killed trying to arrange that. :o :smack:
I’m suprised that no one has mentioned the culture yet. All the advantages of star trek (and then some) and less at the mercy of rampaging Borg and Jem hadar, plus it has cool AI’s to talk to.
I’d like to live in the sitcom universe where one can work a menial job and still afford a spectacular Manhattan apartment and eat out everyday, and where all of life’s problems are solved in 23 mnutes.
I’d like that too - although it’s not a particularly nice place to live. And, more importantly, Vimes might not think I’m a good copper - I’d hate that.
I think I’d have to plump in the end for the Star Trek TNG universe, just like everyone else. It would just be so cool.
