What film do you want to see again on a BIG screen?

You mean the extended versions, don’t you? I’ll be there!

I saw Lawrence of Arabia in its original run–twice. Ben Hur only once; it’s not a great film, but the chariot race is worth seeing on a REALLY BIG screen.

I did indeed! Funnily enough when I was in Manchester a few years ago I saw that Fellowship extended edition was on the cinema billing list, guess some people think like us too.

One of Eastwood’s “spaghetti westerns” – I’m not picky about which – in its original aspect ratio. (I forget the name of it, but the faces look weirdly elongated on the endless basic cable TV reruns.)

Also, Spartacus (the digital restoration job with restored scenes, 'natch). Six thousand Spanish Army extras never looked so good… and it’s a helluva lot better than ten times the number in CGI!

Jurassic Park. The original one. On the TV screen, the dinosaurs are meh/okay, but on the big screen they were EPIC! Even though the technology is dated, seeing the brachiosaurus scene on the big screen again would be awesome. And the tyrannosaurus scenes, especially at the end in the visitor center…

It would probably be a very profitable venture for a company like Turner or Universal that owns a huge catalog to release a “Big Screen” scenes movie. As mentioned above, I don’t want to sit through all of a movie I’ve seen before, but I’d love to see things like the chariot race or other “you really need a big screen” scenes from classic movies on there (especially if they could also adapt them to Dolby surround).

JFK
GWTW
Ben Hur
The Right Stuff
Woodstock

David Lean’s Doctor Zhivago took my breath away when I saw it in a theater with a huge screen and surround sound. It’s not a great movie, but it is a grand one.
