What film do you want to see again on a BIG screen?

It’s super to be able to watch movies at home on DVD whenever you want, but some films were just meant to be seen on a huge screen. I was lucky enough to see “Gone with the Wind” on a big screen, and “Lawrence of Arabia” in a re-release on a big screen.

I’d love to see “Fellowship of the Ring” again on a big screen. Only saw it once in a theater, while I saw “Two Towers” and “Return” many times.

Are there any movies - recent or oldies - that you would pay good money to see on a huge screen? (with really good sound quality, etc, of course)

2001 : A Space Odyssey

The Ten Commandments – haven’t seen it on the big screen in ages
Starship Troopers – even though I’ve called it an awful film, it still has great visuals, and I still haven’t seen it on a big screen

Dracula – the original 1931 Bela Lugosi version. Someone (Gahan Wilson, I think) wrote about the excitement of seeing this on a Big Screen. Although I’ve seen this film countless (heh!) times, it’s always been on a TV screen. I’s like to get the full effect.

There was a theatre back when I was in college that would get a hold of old movies and show them on the big screen.
There’s two that I’ll always remember as being blown away by the “big screen” expreience with.

Psycho and Signin in the Rain

Watching these at home even on a nice 50" set just isn’t the same.

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

The bulk of the movie is only so-so, but Magrathea left me breathless when I saw it on the big screen.

The Arclight in Hollywood shows older movies regularly through their AFI at Arclight program. A few listed upcoming movies are Aliens, Annie Hall, Jurassic Park, and Network. A few months ago, some friends of mine went to see The Sound of Music with a pre-screening Q and A session with Julie Andrews.

Also, you get to buy assigned seats, and each seat comes with its own armrests; no jockeying with your neighbor for space. It is, quite frankly, the greatest movie theater ever.

That’s what I came here to say. I saw LoA during the re-release and it instantly became my favorite film. I’d love to see in on the big screen again.

Probably Beowulf…if, for no other reason, than for someone less than spectacular sights and binocular vision, it’s like having my eyeballs suddenly working right.

BLADE RUNNER- I missed it in the theatres when it first came out and ALMOST saw it a couple months ago in L.A. (had tickets & everything) and then my brother had a bad food allergy reaction at dinner.

Does it have to be “again”? I’ve never seen *Lawrence of Arabia * on a big screen. Just on TV. Our local classic movie palace should show it, but they’re too busy with children’s ballet.

Kurosawa’s Ran . I saw it on video and kept thinking, “I NEED to see this movie on a big screen”

It’s not full of breath-taking visuals, but I’d like to see MST3K: The Movie on the big screen just because it would enhance the silhouette effect of the hecklers up in front.

No, it doesn’t have to be “again”. I never saw the first Matrix movie in a theatre - I wish I had. I think that would be fun to see on the big screen. (BTW I never bothered with the 2nd & 3rd Matrix movies, big or small screen.)

I once drove over two hours for a chance to see “Days of Heaven” again on a big screen.
and I am green with envy for I Am the Walrus’ theatre…

I came in to say the LOTR movies. I really want to see them on the big screen again. And again. And again. And again. Repeat.

Id love to see Metropolis on the big screen, with the original Wagner and other classic score [I liked the Moroder score, but I am in the minority here,…]
The original Lugosi Dracula/Karloff Frankenstein
Casablanca rocked on the Gard Arts Theater screen, so maybe I could get to see it again=)

Tremors. Just… because.

Yes you do! It was an amazing thing to experience. How do we start grass roots movie revival movements?

I’ve never seen the original King Kong or Godzilla on the big screen.

And those were made to exploit that medium.

Grand Prix
Close Encounters

I’d love to see STAR WARS (technically Episode IV, but to me it’s just STAR WARS) and Lawrence of Arabia on IMAX screens. I know STAR WARS has been adjusted for it but no idea if LoA has been. (I think the desert march scenes or Omar Sharif riding out of the mirage would be perfect for the surround scope.)

I’d like to see "highlights from THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (mainly the sea opening of course) and GONE WITH THE WIND (mainly Atlanta burning and a few of the “wide view” scenes) but having seen them both many times wouldn’t particularly want to sit through them for 4 hours. (Plus on that size screen the face shots get annoying- never wanted to see Vivien Leigh’s nasal hair for instance.)
