As I continually upgrade my desktop, I’m thinking of going to all SATA hard drives (currently I have two EIDE hard drives and two SATA drives.) That’ll free up the EIDE connections and I know that I’ll put a DVD burner in the spare 5.25" drive bay. So that leaves two 3.5" bays open and one EIDE spot. I have an internal Zip drive and a 3.5" floppy drive lying around, but I’m not sure that the floppy interface on my motherboard is working correctly and at this point I’d rather just get an external floppy drive to go with my external Zip drive, seeing as how little I use floppies these days.
I keep seeing those 7-in-1 and the like media card readers. Do those things need to plugged into a USB header or is there a different interface? And could I get one that used a IEEE 1394 connection so I could plug it into the internal port on my FireWire card? (This matters because I think I’m out of headers.)
