These flowers are in my back yard in Maryland. They’re really pretty but I don’t know what they are. Any info appreciated.
They look like lupins.
Deffo not Lupins.
Texas bluebonnet?
Look like Bugle to me.
Yep, Ajuga.
The photos in the OP look like a severe case of Ajugalawn. Attractive at times, difficult to cure, but not hopeless.
Thanks, looks like Bugle/Ajuga. I see some people consider it a weed. I like it.
About the only resemblance is the color. The flowers are completely different. Bugle Aguja reptans is a member of the mint family, while lupins Lupinus are members of the pea family (legumes).
It it’s in the mint family, that explains its “weediness” aka tenacity. If that’s the case, considering it a low-maintenance addition of color, rather than a hard-to-kill undesirable, may go a long way towards preserving your mental health.
IOW: glad you like them!

We used it as ground-cover on a hillside in our yard. It’s only a weed if it’s growing where you do not want it.
A weed is just something that grows when or where you don’t want it to.
Yeah, like in the middle of my lawn
Do you (or anyone else) have any advice about containing it? It’s taking over parts of my lawn, and I could actually grow to like it in some of those spots (like around the base of one tree) if I felt there was a good way to keep it from taking over the rest of the yard. There are some places where they’re even growing over my garden edging and putting down roots on the other side in a very short period of time, so if I’m going to rely on a physical barrier, I obviously need something a little more sophisticated. Otherwise, I’m going to have to nuke the site from orbit.
