What font do you use?

Jeesh. Sucking up to the admins.

I’m partial to this typeface. It’s easy to read, is distinctive enough from Arial, and it looks cool. It also scales fairly well, so it looks as good in 12-point as it does in 8 or 10.

Robin

That should be Century Gothic.

For my business (petsitting) I wanted something casual and fun, but not cutesy. Mead Bold is what I use there, except for business letters, where I use Home. Not only is it classic and easy to read, but I like the name; so comforting.

Wingdings!

Times for print, Verdana for screen.

Right now, my favorite font is Georgia. That may change next week.

Mark me down as another Comic Sans hater. I don’t like Times New Roman either, but I can stand it more than Comic Sans.

In small words that I can comprehend, is the purpose of this particular font?

Also, what are some of your favorite font web sights that are free for downloads?
Anyone? Bueller?

Wingdings is the Windows Dingbats typeface. “Dingbats” are all of those little non-text doohickies like arrows and decorative curly bits, and Wingdings gathers up a pile of them in one handy lump. If you fire up Key Map or Character Map, (or just have a look here to see the Zapf version) you’ll be able to see all the whatnots - lots of arrows, playing card suits, weather symbols, astrological symbols and even a bomb…

I love Gill sans for a display font, and I pretty much stick to Garamond for body text.

Of course, for work the answer would be different, by SOP I use Arial, 10pt, 3pt spacing between lines for any text within a table, black. Which is incredibly dull, but monotony is soothing for regulators!

I had no idea; why didn’t anyone tell me?

Verdana

Verdana damnit!

If your using “Comis Sans” in a professional enviroment, you’re a child trapped in an adults body. Don’t do it, you look stupid.

and that’s a bad thing … ?

I prefer Lucida Sans for most display work. My browser is set to that as its default, but for some reason I read my Dope in Trebuchet. Just seems right, I guess. For print, I like Palatino and Garamond. I had a friend who used to write everything in Crillee – if you don’t have it on your system, go watch the closing credits to ST:TNG and you’ll see it. Or here.

For daily use, I like Georgia. Fun stuff gets Papyrus or Helvetica. Letters to my friend in the Air Force usually change font per page.

And I would love to know where I can download nifty fonts! We have a CD, but they’re all holiday-related.

Fun stuff gets Helvetica? I’d hate to see your idea of boring.

As for free typefaces, have a gander here.

I’m a 10pt Verdana girl through and through. My boss and I are constantly at odds with regard to fonts. She’s a 12pt Times New Roman woman and changes every document that I send her for “review” to her putridly uninteresting TNR. grrr

I read somewhere (I googled this but came up empty handed) that people who write emails in Garamond are percieved as intelligent and professional by the people who read the emails. I promptly changed my email settings, but have noticed no appreciable difference so far.
