Sadly, they’re not the same. They’re not even made in Chicago any more - in 1999, production was moved from the Loop to Pennsylvania. Still tasty, but no longer the special treat that they were when you had to go downtown to find them.

Didn’t Macy’s start selling Frango’s under the old Field’s name? Also, I’m too lazy to check myself, but I think just recently they signed with a local company to start making them in Chicago again.

Yes, the Frangos still say Field’s on them. If it’s true that they are making them here again, that’s great. The mayor vowed to get them back after the debacle of changing the store to Macy’s, but I never heard the outcome of that.
I’m in Boston and there are plenty of Macy’s around, but they were always Macy’s, no converted Marshall Fields. After looking at wikipedia, it seems they sell Frango at any Macy’s. Sounds like a good dessert offering.
