What foods are unique to your area?

That looks to me like it’s probably crossing some sort of culinary line from “Pizza” to “Open-topped Pie”, though…

FRESH cheese curds. If they don’t squeak when you chew them they aren’t fresh.

Poutine?

A Flint-style (dry meat, no sauce) Coney (hot dog) made with locally-branded Koegels sausage.

I think they’re gross, personally. But a regional thing and people are very opinionated about Flint-style v Detroit-style coneys.

Agree. They shouldn’t be cold yet.

But you can get them lots of places in the midwest.

North West England:

Lancashire hotpot
Lobscouse
Lancashire cheese
Parkin
Eccles cake
Chorley cake
Goosnargh cake
Manchester cake
Parched peas
Uncle Joe’s mint balls
Throdkin

probably a lot more that I can’t remember.

Concord grapes have a thicker skin that peels off easily. You have to peel the grapes. (this is also why it’s a bit labor intensive)

Ah, that reminds me of another Houston Hybrid dish…the Tex-Cajun Virgin at BB’s Cajun Cafe

Except that the restaurant owner didn’t steal the idea from Canada–but from New Orleans. The chile con queso was his idea…

Yeah, it’s absolutely useless as a delivery/pickup item; just gets crushed to death and turns into a jumble of ingredients. Honestly I’m not overwhelmed with it…I like my takeaway food to be simple and uncomplicated and not having to be scraped off the inside of the box.

On the other hand, if you haven’t tried their normal Crust Supreme yet, give it a shot sometime - and their vegetarian supreme is excellent, too. (Fair warning: some of Crust’s more exotic efforts don’t always translate into better pizza, IMO - if you stick with the tried-and-true ‘Supreme’ ones, they’re reliably delicious.)

Costs more than Dominos, but decidedly yummy and worth the occasional investment - even now that Dominos have lifted their game - as it’s definitely a cut above.* Speaking of which, you can usually get awesome Dominos online coupon deals through retailmenot.com.au.*

Florida - Sun Tea

Blue crab is not a food unique to one area.

 What does this have to do with the topic being discussed?

Anyway, some good rebuttals to the Snopes article here:

Fine. Ellsworth white cheese curds.

Utterly irrelevant to the topic, but since I mentioned them I thought I should correct myself: it’s retailmenot.com - not .com.au

Isn’t that mushy peas using black (purple) peas instead of green?

Is pie mash and liqour (that is the correct spelling in this case, btw) original to East London?

That’s not a proper recipe, btw, just one you can do at home - in the proper recipe, the liqour includes eel stock. And in a proper pie and mash cafe the menu will read something like ‘1 pie, 2 mash, £3.50. 2 pie, 1 mash, £4.00. 2 pie, 2 mash…’ etc. With no mention of what is in the pie. It’s just random Meat.
