Yeah, what is it with toilet paper? OK, I get that women have to use some every time they use the toilet. But day-um! And it’s the thick luxury kind that you don’t need to use as much of. A roll should last more than a couple of days!
I put onions in everything.
Tiparos fish sauce.
Salad wrap ingredients (broccoli cole slaw, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, 'shrooms, chicken) and lavash/flatbread.
Oh, and beer.
Milk. My son and I go through a gallon every other day.
Fage Non-fat Greek Yogurt.
We go through 2-3 liter containers in a week. It’s a miracle food - I’ve lost 30 lbs. eating it almost every day for breakfast with Kashi Go-Lean Crunch. We also make desserts and smoothies with it. I’m thinking of sending a testimonial to them.
Wine, vodka, V-8, wine, garlic, horseradish, pickles, wasabi and anchovy pastes.
Microwave popcorn, bread, and graham crackers. The last I don’t try to keep on hand. One box per pay check is just fine and if they eat it all in a day then too bad for them.
Milk and cold cereal go quite quickly in the summer time. During the school year we have hot oatmeal for breakfast instead.
And I wish it took two days to go through a roll of toilet paper. One roll lasts one day at my house and that’s the double roll. I wish I knew why these weirdos think they need to use so much. sigh.
Vodka, diet Coke, “Falfurrias” butter," DaBecca" turkey breast," HEB" buttermilk, “Herdez” salsa, huge “HEB” chicken thighs, vodka, diet Coke, iceberg lettuce, green onions, yellow onions, garlic, “Central Market” San Marzano tomatoes, vodka, diet Coke," Lee Kum Kee" sauces, “Fancy Feast” cat food . . ." Taste of the Wild" dog kibble . . . vodka, diet Coke . . .
Olive oil. Baguettes. It is THE snack in our household. Olive oil is a major chunk of our monthly grocery budget.
Shayna turned me on to California Olive Ranch olive oil. Very good, says I.
The roommate: saltines (I watched her get home from work one day recently and eat an entire sleeve in 10 minutes flat ), Triscuits, plain canned tomato sauce (to dip the saltines in, of course), tortillas if they’re in the house.
Me: Diet Coke, cold cereal (Amazon Subscribe ‘n’ Save!), yogurt (below), tuna pouches, chicken breasts/thighs (cook em a couple pounds at a time and eat them cold throughout the week :o)
Household: onions, garlic, Better Than Bouillon Vegetable Base (not purchased through Amazon! Apparently very expensive there), onions, pasta/jars of spaghetti sauce/canned tomatoes, soy sauce (goes very quickly when you’re using a cup at a time for making seitan), Sriracha, and onions.
Either I need to shop where you’re shopping for 3-liter containers, or I’m misreading “two to three 1-liter containers”
But this. Next to buying individual containers of the Dannon Greek yogurt, this is the cheapest per-ounce way to buy this style yogurt at my grocery store, for some reason. The little cups of the same brand are horrendously expensive, but this is reasonably priced.
Hmmm. I’ve tried that brand before and thought it too smooth/mild. I’ll see about trying the Oroville Ranch Bold and Peppery one. Our go to brand is Lucini Italia Premium Select. Great overall flavor and balance without bankrupting us. It has that “Tuscan bite” that I prefer. Many people like the smoother finish of a Californian or Spanish style oil though.
Sorry about the ambiguity. I meant 2-3 1-liter containers. We get them by the case at Costco. The stuff is amazing - it’s one of the few things on my diet that I can’t overeat.
It’s not ‘peppery’, but I do like the ‘green’ flavour.
Tortillas, sour cream and chunky Salsa.
Eggs
But above all Stonyfield Farm Blueberry Yogurt. Only that brand, and only that flavor. She. will. not. even. try. anything. else. It’s often out of stock, and I confess to nearly clearing the shelf antyime I find some. The more I buy, the more she eats, and we are always out again within five days. ::Home Alone scream:: As someone said it perfectly above: If I buy mroe at a time, [she] eats more at a time. At least it’s good for her. . .
I noticed Costco has started carrying the 1-liter containers of Fage non-fat. I have one in the fridge right now. And your post makes me add Fage to my list, too. I like to sweeten strawberries and blueberries with Splenda and spoon them all over a bowl of Fage for breakfast.
And olive oil - Trader Joe’s carries Martini brand Greek kalamata olive oil at about $8 for a bottle. I think it’s a 1.5 liter bottle. We go through it so fast, you’d think we drank it.
How large are your portions? Do you mix the Kashi with it? Or eat it separately?
I probably eat around 6-8 oz of it mixed with a cup of Kashi cereal and sliced fruit (usually strawberries, sometimes dried fruit when they are out of season) every morning. I’ve never liked soggy cereal, so this mixture is the perfect consistency for me. I also really like the flavor (the slight tang of the the yogurt, with the sweetness of the cereal and the berries), and the crunch of the cereal. This breakfast has around 30g of protein, or a little less than half of my target for the day, with essentially zero fat.
It seems like just a couple of weeks ago (probably a couple of months, but still) I bought a jar of rosemary. Looking in my cupboard right now, it’s half empty.
I’m always lower on garlic than I think I am. All too often, the amount I put in something isn’t limited by how much I think appropriate, but just by how much I have left.
And I go through about an onion or two a week, but I usually just buy those one or two at a time, right before I use them. I’ve been thinking lately, though, that I should just buy them by the bag, since I use onions in absolutely everything I cook.
