We co-sleep, but that’s SUCH an individual decision that it doesn’t really bear considering the opinions of others, beyond the obvious safety concerns e.g. don’t EVER co-sleep if you’ve been drinking, have a waterbed, are very obese, etc.
My experience is that they hate the bassinet. At any rate, they’re used for so short a time that if you do get one, go second hand (although of course up to date in terms of safety codes).
I second the idea of a pack and play in addition to or even in lieu of a crib, but if you can find (again, within code) a regular old play pen, it does just as well.
Avent bottles are great, but of course you may not need them if you breastfeed. If you need to use a pump, go ahead and buy/rent a hospital grade one (ask a lactation consultant)
An exersaucer is an absolute MUST for us. Couldn’t live without it. I know people are against ever confining the baby, but realistically, if I ever want to get the dishwasher unloaded again while simultaneously making sure that the lil’ explorer is safe, I need an exersaucer. By the way, some couples refer to it as the “sexersaucer” from within earshot in the next room, if you know what I mean.
Some kids love a swing, most infants love a bouncy seat. The bouncy seat, especially, is inexpensive and worth it.
Any Evenflo Snugride or Graco infant seat is fine. When you need a convertible seat (meaning when the baby’s too big for his original one and needs one that can still face backwards and then later turn around) the Evenflo Triumph is the way to go. It’s $129 but worth every penny in terms of safety, stability, ease of use, etc.
My son’s 14 months old if you have any other questions.
